Ice Sculpture?

Kristen, on February 14, 2012 at 12:31 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 16

Anyone doing an ice sculpture?

Any cool ideas of what we could do?

My dad REALLY wants one for some reason haha and wants me to get creative with it but I have no clue!

I seriously wanted one and the only reason I didn't get it was because the guy never called me back! But Andrene got a fantastic martini luge. Here is the thread to her link.

Ice Sculptures come with the venue, so We decided to get an ice sculpture of a husky haha just because we have two of them and we thought it would be cute.

My sister did one, the martinis flowed freely through it alllllllllllll night ;-) There's was a monogram, it was an M. The "sculpturist" drilled holes through each side (one on the left side of the M and one on the right side).

Ice sculpture also comes with my venue. We haven't decided what we are going to do for it though.

Oh EDubbs, thanks for reminding me how incredible Andrene's ice luge was!

For Cate's wedding, it is an expensive addition to the package. She gets signature drinks and one of them is a martini. It was a unanimous decision... save the money and have them served on trays.

My cousin had one last summer, it was a police badge (she married a cop) and as it began to melt we all begged the scuplturist (another cousin) to turn it into a luge , sooo much fun!

This is what I have come up with so far. We are doing a DW and a US reception when we come back. This would be for our US reception. We are getting married in Jamaica and wanted it tied in somehow so we decided on a Jamaican themed cocktail hour. We are going with calypso/reggae type "island" music and doing a "Jamaican Station" along with our regular passed and stationary choices. This would include jerk chicken cups, coconut shrimp, mini crab cakes, island fruits, etc.

What do you think if we decorated that table with something like this...

Wow ours is similar Kristen. I was born in the Bahamas so we are incorporating my Bahamian heritage by hiring a Junkanoo band and my parents are Jamaican so we went with a full Jamaican cuisine. Jerk chicken, beef patties, curried goat, oxtails and a Jamaican black cake! Our ice sculture will be one huge palm tree like the one above with the drinks flowing through it.

Try some figures from cantoon, films or tv, I saw the ice and snow sculpture in Harbin, and found series of ice sculptures! So amazing, this is some on the Harbin Ice Festival website, http://www.harbinice.com/photo-p1316-v173-ice-lantern-festival.html
