Idea for table "#s"

Rabreena, on October 28, 2020 at 3:47 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

Last weekend my fiance and I had an appointment with our florist and day of coordinator to go over the look and ideas we wanted for bouquets, boutonierres, centerpieces and place settings. While there our florist mentioned that she wants to incorporate, in a small way, the fact of my fiance having served in the Marine Corp., especially since he decided he wasn't going to wear his dress blues for our wedding.
It was suggested that instead of doing the regular table #s, we could name the tables after wars/battles and/or battleships involving the Marine Corp, in which my fiance and I absolutely loved the idea of. The problem we are now having is that I cannot locate a place that I can create and order custom table # cards that have enough room to have the names on it. I looked on Minted, Shutterfly and other places. My fiance mentioned about us buying the paper/stationary and then doing the names in calligraphy, but the issue I have about that is we simply do not have the time to do it ourselves. Between the amount of time he and I work and the time it takes for us to get home, we only have enough time to cook dinner, eat and then get to bed. Plus I do not want to spend a lot of money on table # cards.

Does anyone know of a nationwide retail store and/or a website or somewhere that we could go to in order to get these done? We are located in the Charlotte, NC area if anyone else is that has an idea to help.

Could you do them over dinner? You can find the images or words and print them on cardstock yourself

That is a possibility, do you think if we did it that way it would cost a lot for the ink? We will be using 4x6 cards for our "#'s".

I don’t think so. I use xl ink which last longer and runs about $60 unless I catch it on sale. And I’m using it to print my invitations and haven’t run out yet.

    Um.

I have to admit, if I saw table numbers named after *battles*, I would be very uncomfortable. My grandfather was a Marine officer in WWII, and he was injured and nearly died in some of those very battles that might be considered "famous".

Maybe consider famous Marine leaders or former Marines, instead?

I understand your concern, but my fiance is not the only one who has served in the Marines that will be at our wedding. He will have many friends attending that he was with during his deployments plus also having family members there who served in the Navy and one of my bridesmaids who served in the Army.
I have seen the effects of having served during a war, having watched my FH cope with severe PTSD.
We look at it as to honor not only all of our friends and family who have served in any branch of the military and/or went to war/battle yet also for those who aren't at our wedding. In no way would we mean it in disrespect, only as to respect, to thank, to honor and appreciate what they all have done and continue to do.

Have you tried Canva.com? You can design them at home and have a local Staples/Office Max print them for you.

Etsy seems like the best option in your case. If you're finding the prices too high, I'd look into purchasing just a customized template and then printing them out at the local Staples

I think that is an awesome idea! Maybe you could try to DIY one a week since you have a whole year left Smiley smile

    Thank you! Smiley smile
I honestly would really like for us to try to do it, but I work at a CPA office and I have to help close out at the end of the year, prep our clients for the upcoming tax year and once it hits January the new tax year season has started and doesn't stop until the end of April. So once I "might" have available time to do so my fiance won't because that is when his busy time at work starts, which made even picking our wedding date that much more difficult.

We did table names instead of numbers and ordered our custom from Minted. They turned out great!
