Ideas about losing weight.

So I just order my wedding dress and my wedding is in October. Has anyone lost weight and their dress needed Alterations. And what is your opinion on it. Cause I ordered in my size.

A friend ordered her dress and dropped a ton of weight after. She got a different dress.

But its the first time I've ever heard of anyone doing that.

I just went through this with David's Bridal! I lost about twenty five pounds since I bought my gown, and there was no way that my sleeveless ballgown was going to fit. They were super helpful and made the exchange easy - I was able to order a new dress that's more form fitting.

As for alterations, they say at least two months out. I've also heard that it's easier to take a dress in than take it out. I think you're on the right track to order it in your size - they can bring it in to fit you.

If you lose enough weight to go down a size, make sure to leave yourself enough time to order it! They offered to do that for me too, but I wanted to get something different. So I would try it on again about four months out so you can decide how you want to handle it! Congrats and good luck! I'd love pics too!

I plan on losing weight because I want my dress to fit nicely (o back fat over hang and pulls down nicely over my curves. If by chance I lose too much then I would get alterations as it would be cheaper probably than a new dress. I have been told it is cheaper to take it in then take it out. Does not hurt to lose some weight maybe as the dress tried on in stores is more stretched out and maybe the one you purchased is more fitted. See how it fits you the day of. Good luck.

I lost 15 lbs between the time I bought my dress & our wedding day and was totally fine, alterations said it's way easier to go down in size than it is up in size.

I definitely think it's smart to order the dress for your current size and move forward with alterations as needed! This will definitely vary person to person, particularly considering the style of dress and how much weight you are expecting to lose! You still have a good bit of time before the wedding, so I would re-evaluate in April (if you are considering a new dress entirely/cannot be altered) and again in August (if more complex alterations are needed to the current dress, give time for alterations and several fittings)!
