Ideas for an elegant barbque menu...need help...please & thank you!

Almost Mrs. White, on February 6, 2013 at 11:23 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

Hey ladies, as some of you know me & FH have been revising our wedding venue/reception plans to cut cost. We were talking last night & may be considering doing the reception in the backyard of one of the rental units. I was thinking about grilling up some foods (not me per se') but I need to sexy it up for more elegance. Any ideas on some menu items? I'm thinking ribs, chicken & shrimp but I don't have any ideas for sides & I'm not trying to make it seem picnicky w/baked beans &/or corn on the cobb if you catch my drift. In other words a knife & fork kind of meal vs. finger foods. We have a small guest list of up to 30 ppl so any recipe/menu ideas will be great. Yes, I'm googling for ideas too. Thanks in advance!

I actually think you are ok doing the typical sides! If it is a BBQ menu as a guest that is what I would expect!

I think the key to making it elegant is the presentation itself. I kinda agree with lucky me... people expect those kinds of foods at a BBQ. Maybe keep traditional BBQ foods just present them differently.

Like maybe mini cornbread in fancy cupcake papers, corn cob kabobs instead of regular hand held corn on the cob.

you could make fancy little name cards for the food that match your wedding colors

Yeah, ok, that's what I'm talking about! Thanks @CrystalS those are some great ideas especially the potato salad!

That's a cool idea too @HisMrs. I just didn't have a picture in my head of how to make it fancy like your pic, lol! Thanks for that too!

@Fireworks Bride I like the clam bake idea too! FH doesn't eat seafood (he's allergic) but I do & I did want a little bit of a twist in our menu so I'll be looking into that as well. Maybe I can do a combo...

@Charlette A I have an idea of how to present it I just need recipe ideas like marinades, or a play on deviled eggs or potato salads... that type of stuff...

U can do chopped up potatoes grilled, also veggies(peppers, onions, asparagus, zucchini). Pork tenderloin is fabulous on the grill

The veggies on the skewers are peppers and zucchini. I think it's pretty looking and would look good at a fancier BBQ, hope this helps

    That sounds good too @FutureMrsB!

LOL Yep @Fireworks Bride you sure did, I am a lover of seafood & it would be fitting to add to the menu especially since we'll be near the eastern shore!

OOO smoked mac & cheese! CHECK! There's one menu item, now I'd have to find a place in my area that does that! Thanks @Ashlee P.
