Ideas for how to ask somebody to be our officiant?

I think maybe it would be good to take him out for dinner and then hand him a card and then he can read the card. I’ve been trying to figure this one out myself to be honest. We had one of my FHs bestfriends straight up tell us no and he didn’t feel comfortable doing it LOL which is totally fine, But now we’re scared anyone else LOL

My best guy friend is our officiant. I purchased a sticker Etsy that said “we can’t tie the knot without you, will you be our offciant?” And placed it on a bottle of champagne and bought him champagne glasses.

Haha that is too bad! I feel like your hesitation is well-founded!

I am hoping that since we are basically eloping (less than 10 people total) that he won't be worried about too much stage fright. I also plan to give 100% support in the writing of the ceremony, if he wants it.

View Quoted Comment He was very excited about the prospect of being my fiancé’s best man, but since we decided we aren’t having a wedding party, that’s not an option. My fiancé would like to make it a little bit special when we ask him, to maintain the whole “groomsman proposal” feel. We just wanted to present him with a sweet gift/card type of thing, nothing elaborate.
