Ideas for Public Park

Private User, on August 12, 2012 at 9:34 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 9

Starting to get cold feet about my venue for the ceremony.

How can you make a public park feel elegant for a wedding ceremony? There is a gazebo that I plan to use. I have also rented white outdoor wedding chairs. I am doing a vintage theme. Everything will be pink & white.

You could get a lot of potted flowers and plants to make it look like a garden. Going up the aisles or in the gazebo, or both.

Lace along the aisle could look nice, also if your able candles.

Public park, elegant? I do not think that is possible.

I, honestly do not think that any outdoor wedding can be termed "elegant".

In order to try to an elegant feel, you may want to get some organza and make canopies with it. Lots of soft colored flowers.

What time of day is the wedding? Will the reception also be in the park? If the time goes into dusk, candles, lanterns and such (if allowed) would lend a romantic feel. It they do not allow candles, you can use battery operated candles.

Do you want an elegant wedding? That would be the first thing i'd ask myself. I am having and outdoor vintage wedding and elegant isn't one of the words I would use to describe my event.

The reception will be across the street in a ball room .... Cocktail hour will be in a separate room across the street as well.

The wedding will be at either 6:30 or 7:30.

Okay, Kasey, that being said, you have two different events going on. Both can work, but you will need to "work" that.

A public park wedding says, to most people, casual. So, I would go with, again, some organza draped overhead. Beautiful flowers (no daisies, sunflowers, etc.)

What do you mean by "vintage"? That term may, or may not, be elegant.

Well, I had my wedding and reception in a park and elegant would not be my description of it, lol. Pretty, yes. Fun, yes. Just use lots of pretty flowers for the gazebo and use the same kind for your reception centerpieces. You can add candles, bling, or whatever in the reception venue to give it an elegant look.

Oh, and I like the draping idea, also.

    Hi Wedding Twin,

I'm actually doing the same thing, I guess great minds think alike ;-) I've been googling and searching and really the only way I can picture the park becoming elegant would be with a draped canopy. Here are a few ideas you might like. Another thing I'm thinking about using or doing is having vintage lace umbrellas for our beautiful mature ladies along with fans and I would also like to have someone passing out/serving fresh lemonade. :-) I know I'm asking for a lot but I think it can be done.

    Good luck. :-)
