Ideas for travel themed table 'numbers'

Private User, on February 9, 2015 at 11:23 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10

My wedding isn't necessarily themed, but if you have to call it a theme, it's "our story." We're incorporating elements of our story into the wedding. For our table numbers and seating arrangement, we'd like to incorporate the places FH and I have visited together.

I saw this online and really like the idea of making these travel tags as place cards:

However, for the table numbers, what should I do to indicate each table is a certain destination? I thought about postcards but it might look tacky. It would also make it hard to find the table without a number.

Any suggestions?

Our friends did travel themed tables. Instead of numbers, they did places they visited. So some people were at table Cancun, Mexico, some at table Toledo, Ohio, etc. And at each table, they had a few pictures of them at that location.

Yep what @pancakes said, my boss did that a few years ago when he got married.

You could pair a table name of a place you visited together with a number (so like Cancun - 1, Toledo - 2) if you want to make sure there are still table numbers. Just do like postcard/picture of the place/map/whatever on one side and the actual number on the other. Or you could have a map of the layout of the tables near the escort cards, so people could see where their table is, and that would tie in to the travel theme as well.

Or the one Maltese posted is cute too!

What about no table numbers just a destination name for each table. You could do a 'distance to destination' sign. Like 'Aruba 10,000 miles'. I'm thinking those arrow road signs. A Google map search would give you the approximate distance for each place you've visited. Shows how far each place you've visited is from home. Could be unique though it would be quite informal.

Love all the ideas! I definitely plan on pairing the destination with a number, since we will have at least 12 tables spread throughout the porch and portico so we want to make sure people can find their tables easily.

Love the idea of incorporating a map like the one Maltese posted! Going into my pinterest board Smiley smile Maybe in the same frame, I can have the location name underneath the number. We wanted to put pictures of us on the table too, but I also worry that too much going on would hide the floral centerpiece!

KMG, I also like the idea of the arrow road signs! Since our tables are spread out in different areas of the mansion, we can use the arrows to indicate where the tables are!

For my friends wedding, each table was a country they had visited, and we used a huge map with postcards as the seating chart.

L&G, do you happen to have pictures you can share with? Did they put the guest names on the postcards?

You could use a white corner border on the map portion, and beneath it have the place and beneath a short description of what you two did there.
