Ideas on a fairytale wedding...

Jennifer, on February 13, 2010 at 2:07 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 9

Drew and I are planning on having a fairytale themed wedding. I am having designers block on good ideas for the wedding. Ladies do you have any thoughts on the subject? Color schemes? Flowers? Bridesmaids dresses? Lighting? Decorations? Food? Any thoughts are deeply appreciated.. thanks...

I love fairytale theme's. There is so much you can do with this theme. Many people choose Cinderella as a model for a fairytale wedding. The story has everything: carriage, magic, castles-everything. But other fairy tales, like Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, and Snow White is also good inspiration. Colors for a fairytale wedding should be pastels; pink, lavender, blue, green, and yellow are all good as well as white, cream, or ivory. Silver adds a definite royal touch. Some good flowers (other than red roses) include camellia, iris, baby's breath, gardenia, orchid, lilac, hyacinth, lily of the valley, and tulip. The Disney version of Cinderella offers an excellent dress look, very feminine. As for decorations if budget allows it i love a large carriage as a decoration. If you have a reception table, a large ice romantic sculpture (if you can afford it) makes a striking centerpiece. Other decorations can include different glass slippers, Cont.

We got the idea for the wedding because my fh always calls me his "princess". But we also wanna throw some tradition into the mix too. White will definately be one of colors, must decide on the other one too. We want to leave the ceremony in a white limo, old fashioned white car, or white carriage. And as for the flowers... ??? You guys have givin us great suggestions. Thanx!

Archways decorated with flowers, and a quaint wishing well.

A neat idea consists of having a wishing well that is large enough to hold multiple scraps of paper. Provide small pieces of paper and ask your guests to write pieces of advice or wishes for your future on the paper. Other centerpiece ideas include using small statues of fairytale stories: Cinderella, Snow White, Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, various versions of Prince Charming. Small lamps surrounded by greenery and flowers also make nice centerpieces, as do glass or crystal sculptures of castles, flowers, or birds. Also decorate the venue in draping fabric and lights. A castle cake (google it for visuals) is also amazing for a fairytale wedding (if the budget allows). Hope these ideas help.

I'm also doing the fairytale themed wedding and we may include the butterfly theme also if we can figure out how to do both themes in one. my colors are pink and white. my flowers are roses, stargazer lilys, calla lilys, and about one or two more flowers that aren't decided yet having hard time on that and its going to have some baby's breath amongst the flowers. if we can afford it in our budget were going to have a decorator and he's going to light the entire room up in pink. were doing a sweetheart table so were going to try and make that the center of attn during the reception. and i'm not really sure what else to do i'm also having a hard time coming up with other ideas for the reception??????

Check out glimmersinc.com for sparkly lights that you can put in all the decor.

    Horse and carriage.

Old Victorian Bed and Breakfast for a venue?

Tiara for your hair, ballgown for dress.

Colours silver and blue sound great!
