Ideas on how to hide an ugly pole at our ceremony location??

Courtney, on January 22, 2018 at 5:32 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 6
Hello all!
I was wondering you have any ideas on how to hide the concrete pole that’s in the picture. This is our ceremony site at an arboretum (the same one FH proposed at 😍). The chairs will be facing out, with FH and I standing on either side of the pole. I’m trying to find a way to camouflage it, so a big slab of concrete doesn’t end up in all of our pictures. Extra points if this is something we can prep before with easy set up (we have to decorate the space ourselves and won’t have much time to set up).

What if you put up some kind of stand alone backdrop? Either with drapery or doors or whatever. I feel like purposefully trying to hide it is just going to make it more apparent since it'll be obvious what you were trying to do. So put something up despite it & it'll just blend into the background.

I'd suggest talking to your florist and/or look into some sort of arch with a backing. You can use flowers or fabric.

Thanks! We will try these suggestions! We had heard of people using an arch before, but I hadn’t even thought of getting one with a backdrop on it!

Not sure if anyone else suggested this but what about a makeshift backdrop made out of PVC pipes and fabric? Found the idea on Pinterest and you could make it big enough to cover but still small enough that it could quickly be assembled in pieces

A simple idea would be to rent some potted trees from a local nursery

The trees I’m not sure we could do. With it being an arboretum, they’re pretty particular with us bringing in things that could effect the gardens (we aren’t allowed to do loose pedals because they could end up in the beds, for example). But the photo you shared is beautiful!!

And the PVC and ribbon ideas we could definitely try. The ribbon is easy to prep beforehand too, and shouldn’t take up much space ahead of the wedding (we are gonna have to store everything in our tiny apartment)
