Cocktail hour is usually the best thing

Yeah, we just had a planning meeting with our venue, including talking menu since we have to use their in-house catering. And our dinner menu sounds good…but I am soooooo excited about the hors d’oeuvres!

Happy Hour would be great. So they can socialize and have a drink.

Dance Around with unique props

Some party rental companies rent games: giant Jenna & connect four, etc. Create a photo scavenger hunt, or provide a list of local places to see/visit ( art gallery, garden, architecture, etc)

As some have stated, if you want to encourage more than the typical mingling, you can have some games that people can play if they want, maybe photo props? I went to a wedding where they had trivia about the bride and groom, that was kind of fun, but kind of hard if you don't KNOW the couple. There's also those fun table conversation starters of random topics! Can either get a set or make up your own!
