Ideas to save money?

Kris, on November 20, 2019 at 2:42 PM Posted in Planning 1 8

Hello! We are getting married in the spring, and our budget is pretty tight. So far we are saving money by getting married in a park and having our reception at a local legion hall. We are also catering our reception ourselves. What other tips do you money-savy brides and grooms have to save money on the big day???

Artificial flowers, having a family member bake your cake and Zazzle.com has good discounts on invitations.

Keep your guest list small to lower your costs. Same with bridal party. Facebook marketplace is a great place to find wedding decor at a good price. DIY as much as you can.

DIY what you can, ask family and friends if they have platters, frames, chalk boards, etc that can be used as decorations, cut the guest list, find sample sales for a dress or buy one used, online RSVP Could save on postage for RSVPs

Where to start!! We are budget cutting everywhere because our budget is $10,000. We are trying to come under that too. Artificial flowers are a good way to cut. Depending on your budget, you may be able to find a local florist that will work with you. I'm not sure what your budget is, but our florist is doing 5 bouquets, 4 corsages, 11 boutonnieres, a unity candle arrangement, 10 hydrangea balls for the pews, and 19 greenery garland with hydrangea and roses centerpieces for $1300. Our flowers are hydrangeas and roses. Hydrangeas are a great way to save money is you want real flowers because you get more flowers per stem. I've got a local baker who is doing a small two tierred wedding cake and 125 cupcakes for $525.

Etsy and Amazon are going to be your best friends. I got my save the dates from shutterfly. I got a digital copy of my invitations on etsy. I got the paper from Joann's and it came with the envelope (100 count) for $20. I'm doing my rsvp through my website instead of paying for the paper rsvp card. I created an invitation insert on Word explaining those details and am printing them myself.

I'm getting fancy plastic dinnerware through Amazon instead of renting glass.

See if you venue has tablecloths and utilize those. Also, work with any tables they might have so you don't have to rent. I wanted circle tables, but our venue only has rectangular. I'm working with that to save money on the tables.

Google Samantha Margaret for your bridesmaid gifts!!! She has a lot of beautiful cute choices for cheap!! Etsy has great gifts too. I got hangers for my girls through etsy. I got the girls robes from Kadle.

Anywhere you can get friends or family to help, do it! My grandpa is officiating (he's a retired pastor). My aunt is playing piano. My friend is doing my hair and makeup. My fiance's family is helping out by providing the wedding favors and appetizers. We also aren't doing alcohol which cuts the price a lot!

Smaller guest list, DIY decor, skip favors, programs, unnecessary paper products, artificial flowers, home baked desserts.
