We're skeleton keys for our favors that guests can use as ornaments. Attached to the key will be a purple ribbon and a tag that says, "We've found the key to happiness and want to share it with you" along with our names and wedding date. I'll probably also mix some in with the decor, but not sure how just yet.
Kelly t that's what I want to do to but I'm so not creative. And Kim k thank you for the pics I really like the napkin idea and I want to do the seating with keys and peoples names with their table number. U wish I could come up with something for the center pieces though.
Sorry I wish I could come up with something for center pieces lol.

There are a lot of great 'key' theme readings, and I have a ritual that is kind of like a hand fasting, but with keys. It's very cool. Here are some more ideas;
Another option, you could do whatever you are planning on doing for centerpieces and then put a skeleton key (or a few) next to the centerpieces. My SIL has hers displayed in her home with her promise ring and my brothers engagement ring (yes, she bought him an engagement ring) displayed next to them. Maybe come up with a quote about love, advice/etc and either frame it or attach it to the centerpieces then put the keys next to it. Just brainstorming...
Feel free to use my idea if you want! I haven't made them yet, but it seems easy enough (I'm not very creative either.). I think the hardest part is going to be the tags, but I think I'm just going to use clear sticky labels and attach them to the tags that way.
I love keys ... always have... prior to the wedding i collected vintage keys and used them for guests to write their keys to happiness (or whatever) it was really fun addition to the wedding and the 'traditional' guest book. some pics of mine below!
We're using an antique looking lock and key for our wedding topper. It came with two keys so after the wedding we will put them on our key rings. http://www.save-on-crafts.com/anrepafr3eat.html

I once worked a wedding (all the way in Charlotte, NC! We're in Richmond, VA, so it was quite a trip!) that had a skeleton key theme! Turns out the couple met on a blind date, and on that first date there was a foot of snow on the ground and the guy dropped his keys in the snow on accident and they were trapped outside of the car in the snow! haha!
We created a few gobo designs with a key included!
I hot glued them to our cake topper that I made, tied/glued them to mason jars (similar to the pic above) and set out big rings of skeleton keys on our Sweetheart table, and the guestbook table. My MOH got me one to carry as a good luck charm My original design for the flower holders (tussy mussy) was gong to have a key charm hanging down, but that got changed at the last minute. I'd also thought about making lapel pins with skeleton key charms. I stamped skeleton keys onto some of the favor bags.
My entire wedding is a key theme! Key to my heart actually. I am doing a manzanita tree for the guest book where there will be baskets of keys attached to tags that people will write on and then hang. There is a cute poem I came up with to place on the table for this ( willing to share) keys will be hanging from the centerpieces. I found key pale card holders. Keys are being incorporated into the boutonnières. Key and heart ice sculpture. Key bottle opener favors. And much more. I have tons of vintage keys that I will probably be selling along with other supplies. If you would like links to any of the above mentioned items let me know via email and I will gladly send them along
