Identical Bridesmaids Dresses - Do or Ditch?

Are you totally over the tradition of dressing your wedding party identically? Or do you still love the uniform look of matching bridesmaids dresses?? What's your stance on this bridesmaid tradition? Are you doing or ditching identical bridesmaids dresses? Photo by Victoria Carlson Photography Next...

I'm only having a MOH and 2 flower girls, but if I was having bigger wedding party I would ditch the identical dress. If your paying for a dress you should get what you like.
(my only request would be that they are all the same length and color family)

My fiance and I are not having a wedding party but if we were I would totally go traditional. All the bridesmaids dresses would be the same color but since everyone has different body types, I wouldn't mind different styles. Although they would all need to the similar.

Ditching this. They'll be in the same color and at least same fabric for my bridesmaids. We'll see what my MOH chooses as she's my sister and I told her she can wear whatever style and fabric she wants. I told my girls they can pick whatever they feel comfortable in as long as it's nothing to revealing.

I did not have a bridal party, so it wasn't really any concern of mine.

BUT if I did, they would not be matching. I like various colors, textures, and styles. All belonging to the same color palette of course, but definitely mismatching. Smiley smile

I say do or ditch, whichever seems to go with your overall image of what you want your wedding day to look like. I love both ways, identical dresses and mismatching dresses, it just depends on the wedding itself. I have always loved the traditional idea of matching dresses, but if your bridesmaids don't have similar body types, it might not look right. I do love the look of mismatched dresses as long as they go together and are from the same designer/color family. I personally had my bridesmaids wear 2 different dresses, half in one dress and half in the other. The dresses were all the same color, material, and relatively the same design with the exception of the top part which was slightly different.

So I contemplated this in the beginning. I was really thinking more low key and just giving the girls a color and saying go find a dress. But since I picked the color Teal and there are so many shades of teal and also my girls just kept saying we’ll wear whatever you want us to wear, I ended up looking at a bunch. I narrowed it down to 3 and they all picked the same one as their favorite.

I don't want them wearing the same dress but I want them to be in the same color.

Ditching, as we won't have any bridesmaids.

Similar/coordinating colors yes but different styles. What looks flattering on one person won't always work for someone else as no two people have the same proportions.
