If it can go wrong it will

Katie, on August 12, 2021 at 12:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
So I've been planning my wedding for 2 years now. I'm getting married this Saturday. I have been on top of this wedding making sure everything goes smoothly. However no matter how on top of things I am something out of my control always seems to happen. Covid happened and made us change all our plans(like I'm sure it did for everyone getting married) , we lost our venue 3 months before the wedding and had to scramble around to find a new venue at the last minute (which this venue has so many rules and we have to do everything ourselves with limitations do to rules for none members of the club we are having it at), and lastly we just found out this morning that our officiant will not be able to marry us this Saturday because of a family emergency (so now we are scrambling around to find someone very last minute to marry us). I'm trying to stay positive but as a person who suffers from anxiety it is so hard to keep calm. But everything is going to work out as well as it can. I just want to let anyone planning know that no matter what you do and how on top of things you are, that it isn't going to work out as you planned. You are going to have things thrown at you that you didn't expect and it's ok, you can make it through it. You just have to roll with the punches and be prepared for things to not go exactly the way you planned. And your wedding day will still be as beautiful as you hoped.

Wow, that is so awful! Just know that all of you stressing up until this point will lead to much less stress the day of!

As far as the finding someone to marry you is going - if there is a friend or family member you really would like to honor or is super important to you and fiancé, I would recommend getting them ordained - I'm pretty sure you can do it in a couple of minutes online.

I hope so. And thank you I'll have to look into that. That could be our saving grace.

Thank you for this. I needed to hear this today. I’m about 45 days out and extremely stressed out, forgetting little things here and there. I do have a Type A personality and my occupation is a project manager so I don’t think that helps with the worrying. I keep on reminding myself to trust my vendors and just roll with the punches on the day of.

You're welcome. Hopefully everything can at least go smoothly for you on your day. I'm sure though no matter what happens it will be a beautiful day and you won't even think of all the little things you once stressed about.
