Lake County is the same way! My husband and I ended up going to McHenry County to get our marriage license (all it took was a phone call to set up the appointment) and got married in a park in McHenry County. We ended up having the mini-reception at home. The best part was it took less than a week after I mailed the completed license to get the certified copy back!

I never thought of getting married in another county and it sounds like it was a super easy process for you which is good.

Maybe getting married in a different county is also something my fiance and I would have to consider. Luckily it's a family friend that is marrying us so he is flexible with whatever we decide. I also emailed the Cook County Clerk to see if they have any information on when the licenses in Cook won't be suspended anymore.

They are doing online marriage licenses for emergencies or if you have a wedding come up in the next 30 days. I don't have the link handy but I do remember seeing it.

I just found out today that the county clerk is opening up to the public July 6 and you can go in person to get your license!

I saw this as well and did a huge sigh of relief! I emailed the cook county clerk and she responded back with that information. I may try and go middle of July just in case things with the virus take a turn for the worst again.

We just got our marriage license in Cook County (Rolling Meadows). You have to go first thing in the morning (8am, they open doors at 8:30am). If you come later, they book up pretty quickly and may close their doors. The first time we came, we were not allowed in because they closed their doors at noon...

View Quoted Comment I keep forgetting to update in here that we were able to get ours as well and we actually got the license at the same place you did!! The lady also said when we come to file our license, we could actually get the certificate on that same day.
