I'm feeling devious, found a happy medium between calligraphy and the printer.

Is anyone else doing what this person did? I think it's a great idea!

I am doing something similar. After a very long time of trying to teach myself calligraphy I decided that I would never be able to get it quite right. So I am totally cheating as well and I printed the address from the computer in the font and size that I wanted (after a few test runs). Then I made myself a little light box using a flashlight under picture frame glass that is set on top of a wooden frame my fiance made (it was a set of 4 candles until my fiance made the wooden frame).

Then I placed the address printed from my computer inside the envelope and copied it onto the envelope using a calligraphy pen set that I had bought. They are turning out amazing! I will have to post a couple of pictures. Smiley smile Its a lot of fun but does take a lot of time and patience.

Shannon Z that is pretty genius. Our envelopes are really thick.....I wonder if that would work. I've been practicing my calligraphy but it's been so long since I used it that I'm rusty, and now I'm getting all perfectionist-y and nitpicky about it.

I don't want to run our schmancy envelopes through the printer......hmmmm.

Just find a the brightest flashlight you can!

I will try to post some pics again so hopefully they don't post twice but I don't think it worked last time I tired.

Ok update. I tried what the girl posted and it turned out craptastic. I changed my game plan tried something similiar to what Shannon z did and it looks great! That's the way to go for me. I am using a flashlight we use while camping/hunting.

I wonder if I could just put a super bright light under a deep clear pyrex casserole dish turned upside down? Maybe use a whole bunch of flameless candles that will stand up straight so the light will glow upwards without rolling around? That way I wouldn't have to MacGyver some wooden frame.

What sort of pens/ink did you all use? Felt calligraphy pen? Metal calligraphy tips with ink? Small tip sharpie?

I'm thinking of doing this. After addressing 65 STDs today all that writing does not sound like fun, but it will look SOOOO pretty!

I happen to have a lightbox that I used for drawing in my high school days. It's a bit small though. Kris's idea of using pyrex sounds perfect. I have a couple cake pans that don't get enough use anyways.

I used metal tip ink calligraphy pen's I got them at Office Depot or Max or something but they have them at Hobby Lobby too. They are hard to learn how to use so I would recommend practicing first on scrap paper. I practiced writing calligraphy with the felt tip pen's but I couldn't find one's that wrote fine enough for the actual addressing of the envelopes.
