Congratulations!! Yes take your time enjoy your new exciting news. Then start out with making a budget that will help you with a date. Once you have your budget you'll have an idea of what venues etc you can start to look at.

Thank youuu!!! And to you as well. Ok I will do that, my fiancé and I always talked about having a small wedding with close friends and family, and I feel like it’s cheaper to do it that way as well. If you have any more advice for me please share, thank you for the advice.

Congratulations!! Beautiful ring! One piece of advice I can give is to create a separate email just to use for wedding. That way, it's easier to filter through everything to find what you're looking for when you need to find a contract from a photographer, or need to re-read the email your venue sent about changes to their policies, or to track your wedding purchases, etc. Definitely take some time to enjoy the engagement - it's such an exciting time in your life!! Always feel free to post on these forums - anything from wedding questions to showing your centerpieces to asking everyone for their opinions, everyone here is happy to help. Happy wedding planning!

Thank you so much, and congratulations to you as well. Very good advice I wouldn’t have thought of that thank you again. I am so thankful of this forum I would be all over the place trying to plan the wedding, but most importantly that’s exactly what I plan to do is enjoy the engagement. I’m not in a hurry to do too much planning, besides finding the venue, and getting the venue paid for so we have the biggest part out of the way.

    Congratulations!! Welcome to WeddingWire!

Another good budget tip is consider what time of year you want your wedding, weddings in November, January-March (and sometimes April) are considered "off season" and are generally cheaper! Our original April date was considered "winter off season" and we got the 18% service fee waived! If your dream venue's Saturday prices are too expensive, ask for the Friday pricing, which is generally cheaper as well!

Have so much fun planning! We are all here for you! Smiley smile

Thank you Jennifer!! I will look into the off season for the venues I been looking into already. I think that would be a good idea anyway for a small wedding. Again thank you for the advice!!

Hi! While I do agree with everyone that you should take a beat to enjoy your engagement, I was one of those unfortunate people who simply couldn’t do that until I got some important details sorted. I’m a little Type A. So I started doing some major planning about 2 wks after we got engaged. In the 1st 3 months we booked our venue, photographer, videographer, and caterer (the big stuff), and I scheduled an appointment to look for a dress. Because of all the weddings being postponed due to COVID, I figured there would be some competition for the date we wanted (and I wasn’t wrong on that). Now that we’ve got all of the most important things reserved, I’ve been able to relax and enjoy the whole process. I definitely don’t regret planning so soon but I will say that it was a bit overwhelming for my “Type B” FH who truly doesn’t understand my logic lol. I wish we would’ve sat down and had a “this is what I NEED to do for my own sanity” conversation.

Hello Christy! I agree you should enjoy your engagement. Like you said you got the big stuff out the way first then enjoyed your engagement. That’s exactly what I’m doing, we just got engaged 4/3. So far I toured venues, and I picked the one that we will have our ceremony and reception (super excited) and at peace that I have gotten that part out the way when it was my biggest concern. Everything else is notated and will fall into place when it gets closer to our wedding day, my main focus was securing the venue. So now it’s time for me/us to enjoy our engagement. Thank you so much for the advice!!
