I'm newly engaged! Anyone afraid they'll lose their ring?

Jacqueline, on August 20, 2018 at 10:11 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 22
Anybody out there worry they're going to drop their ring in the sink, toilet, or just plain worried it'll disappear from your finger?

Literally everyday. I almost dropped mine down the sink taking it off and was so close to a heart attack.

Yup I always was and I did in fact lose it. 🙃🙃🙃

If it's a ring that has a fair amount of monetary value along with the sentimental value, you may want to get insurance on it.

Sorry to hear it! It's my mother's so quite sentimental! I have no idea if there is insurance on it, but since I don't know, most likely not. I'll look into it! Thanks!

I was thinking about where to set mine this morning, and was afraid of that very thing, and there is no drain plug! I think I'd cry for a long time if it happened!

In the beginning, yes! Once I got more used to it though, no! I just got ring dishes and put them in rooms I took it off in (kitchen, next to our bed, bathroom) and it helped.

I was engaged for 2 years and have been married for 2 months and still worry about losing it! A big thing for me is having a ring dish in my kitchen, away from the sink, that I can put my ring in whenever I'm cooking, cleaning or even just washing my hands. It gives me peace of mind knowing that it's always in one spot if it's not on my finger.

Also, I agree with getting insurance on your ring. We got ours right away, and it's really affordable (like $50-$60/year).

I'm really liking the ring dish idea! I'm going to have to pick some up! And that's a very reasonable price!

It was definitely a worry of mine before I got engaged, since I hardly wear any other jewelry and I have trouble keeping track of that kind of stuff. But I haven't actually had any problems with keeping track of this ring. I take it off to shower, but I always make sure to leave it on my nightstand so it isn't in danger of falling down the sink or anything. I also have insurance on my ring, I have a VPP (valuable personal possession) policy that attaches to my renter's insurance and covers this ring specifically.

Uhhhh yup lol. I’ve had my ring for almost 3 years now and I’m still nervous everyday that I’m going to lose it. Definitely get it appraised and insured as soon as possible! It’ll give you a bit more peace of mind, in my opinion. The day after we got engaged we left for a camping trip and my ring was too big. I almost accidentally flung it into a lake. And then I was nervous to wear it to bed for months because in our apartment there was a heating vent on the floor next to our bed and I was paranoid that it was going to fall off in my sleep and fall down the vent. After I got it resized it got a bit better, but I’m still scared of losing it! It’s so precious.

Hi Jacqueline! Congrats on your engagement!! I feel this way about all of my jewelry, lol!! I'm always losing my necklaces and rings so I can't even imagine how nervous I'll be with my engagement ring! I love the ideas of having ring dishes around the house, especially by the sink! I also think insurance is a great idea, I know that my mom and cousin both have that for their rings!

I've been married for over 20 years and still worry. I only take my rings off in specific places in the house and have places there to hold them, in the kitchen it's the fruit bowl (away from the sink) and in my bedroom my jewelry box, in my studio a small dish away from my work table.

I'm so sorry to hear that! I'm sure I'll have a nightmare or two! Does insurance cover stolen items?
