Nope and usually I don't win anything with contests. So no obsessions or illusions here.

I won 100 Save the Dates so that was pretty exciting! It was on a blog so I think all I had to do to enter was leave a comment or something like that.

Ugh, I entered like 100 contests and won nothing but those scams where they offer you 'free' stuff then try to pressure you into laying out lots of money on things you don't need (hello, Mary Kay).

If they are anything like "Baby Contests" it's so your information can go into a database and you can get lots of spam. My recommendation is to set up an email specifically to use for these contests. Your email will get sold, I guarantee it.

I've won stuff at bridal shows! I won half off a photo booth package and a $100 gift card to David's Bridal. I didn't buy my dress there, but it pretty much paid for a BM dress I needed for another friend's wedding.

So, I made a special email account just to enter with. I also made a special twitter just to enter with.

Whenever things are slow at work, I search twitter for "wedding win" "bridal win" "wedding giveaway", etc. I do that on instagram too!

I think the emails are a small price to pay for 3 $200 bridesmaids gowns and all the other swag- I know my bridesmaids appreciate it!

And some of the contests on instagram, hardly anyone sees them or enters. I think I may have been the only person who commented to win the jewelry.

Actually, as long as it's directly from a blog or a company, it probably won't spam you. The Kennedy Blue folks haven't spammed me at all, just emailed me letting me know how to proceed with ordering.

@JessieJV, I must be really tired because when I read "Baby Contests", for just a second, I thought "who enters a contest to win a baby?!"

    I'm going back to bed.

Back in Feb. I entered this instagram contest (I joined IG just to enter) this hotel in my wedding city was having a free wedding contest (worth like $40,000) the winner got to have their reception there for up to 200 guests, complete with food, open bar, and linens and floral centerpieces provided by a cosponsors. The contest was to promote the hotels renovated ballroom. I thought we would actually have a chance bc 1. there were so many rules I knew most ppl would disqualify themselves (one rule was no logos in pictures and no promotion of any non sponsor in pictures, another rule was no professional pictures-and there was clearly some professional e-pics used by some ppl). and 2. the theme was perfect bc it fit our love story. We'll after the contest there was about 300 valid entry from basically 37 couples. Out of the 300 we had over 60 entries (you could enter once a day for a month, and different ppl could enter, I entered daily, FH entered 3 times, and on the last couple days several friends entered us). I was pretty pissed when we lost. I downed a bottle of wine in like a hour that night. First because I felt like none of us had a chance. Picture quality and relation to theme were two of the three judging factors. But then a crappy picture that had no relation to the theme won. The winner had a really compelling story about how growing up gay he thought he would never marry, and now he can, and how it would be a dream come true if they won. I felt like no one else had a chance because what could we say? I was on theme everyday, telling our story, and I can't make stuff up. So we lost. The hotel commented how "touched" they were by our entries. So the moral of the stories is no more contest for me, I get too attached and it actually hurt me for about a week when we lost. You literally could have decked out the church, went on a fantastic honeymoon, and got a bomb photographer with the money you saved. Then they had a reveal party for the couple that won so that they could pick their menu, linens, etc, and the hotel posted a video I literally cried. So no more competitions for me.

NewFutureMrs, lmao! Not if they know what they're getting into. I never got spammed directly from the companies that I entered any contests with, but other companies sent me stuff after my kid was born.
