I'm starting to regret not hiring a wedding planner...

Ana, on May 14, 2021 at 11:29 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10

Three months til our wedding and I am still working on decorations. Been pinning stuff on Pinterest, but can't get myself to build and create my vision.

Any tips for pushing through and continuing to work and create decor for the big day? I feel like I'm going to let my guests, and family down with the decorations.

Thanks!

Have you looked into a partial planner? They could help you push through.

Hi Ana! Been there!! I tasked myself with one small project a week to get it done. Start small - perhaps just the guestbook or just the card box. I made the mistake of starting several at once and I got so overwhelmed 😥 Good luck to you ❤️

We had our wedding/ reception at the same venue. They had a storage room filled with decorations that we could use centerpieces, signs etc. Have you asked the place where you’re having your wedding/reception if they have anything?

I hired a day of coordinator to help with things such as decor, etc the day of. They are going to help set up & tear down in addition to their duties throughout the day.

First, just take a moment to breathe and remember that your friends and family are there to support the love of you and your future spouse. I promise you, none of them will spend much time focusing on the decor. Second, as a PP said, just try to take it one step at a time. Focus on 1 task, and then move on. If you really feel stressed, you can still hire someone to help take over the rest of the work.

This—trust me, no one will feel let down by decor or a lack thereof.

If you’d feel less stuck to hire a planner, do it but not because you think your wedding will be somehow lacking without some small details.

I will always suggest looking for 2nd hand items. I bought 50% of my decor secondhand. It might not 100% fit your vision but you can always add to it to git your vision.

Your friends and family don't care about decorations. Any guest who feels "let down" by decorations isn't somewhat you want in your life. Cut yourself some slack!

I agree with others to start small so it seems less overwhelming. I also don’t think guests pay too much attention. I couldn’t tell you what the centerpieces looked like at the last wedding I went to.
