In Season Flowers for September

MoreThanAMrs, on February 1, 2016 at 8:01 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

I met with a florist the other day hoping to have some creative input and have them understand my vision for our wedding - vintage romantic but not so formal. I love flowers like baby's breath and queen annes lace versus calla lilies. When I showed him my vision, he kept telling me the flowers I liked were out of season. Are there any other brides out there that are getting married in Sept? What flowers are you using on the big day? Everything I see on Pinterest or in magazines are not seasonal in September. I need some help...

Did he suggest flowers that are in season to help bring your vision to life in a more cost-effective way? If not, you need to meet with another florist.

I got married in October and ran across this bit of a disappointment. It is true. All the flowers I loved were out of season, and if I insisted on having them, they would have cost me $$$$, and on top of it, they wouldn't be at their healthiest best if they were in season. I love hydrangeas. I dreamed I would have hydrangeas at my wedding for years.

Roses are always in season, and that is basically what I ended up with. I'm not a florist, but I think you will run into a lot of daisy's and sunflowers being in season for the month of September. I was disappointed with my flowers at the my wedding. The florist put in yellow, daisys and sunflowers which I told her early on I didn't want. In the end, she talked me into having them because they would hold up the longest being in season. That they did! Or so I am told. I wouldn't know, I was on my honeymoon, but everyone who took the flowers said they lasted for 2 weeks! Good luck on your flower adventure. I hope you end up with something you like.

I'm not getting married in September, but zinnias and dahlias are in season then, and they are two of my favorites!

If he didn't suggest other options I think you need to find someone else.

I didn't realize baby's breath had a season. It looks like a weed to me.

You all are amazing! I thought I was completely unprepared and that I was the one who should have done more research. It left me feeling anxious for the first time with this wedding planning! I definitely will look at the flowers you suggested and contact other vendors.

    Thanks again!

Definitely contact other vendors! With my florist I showed her a picture of what I wanted and told her what I wanted to spend. She told me what flowers would be in season and give me the same look for a lower cost....That is what a good florist does and why they're worth it!

I told my florist what feel I wanted, and she suggested seasonal flowers that would keep my theme and colors. I am also September, let me see if I can dig up her list of suggestions. ETA: your florist should be able to suggest flowers that are in season. Baby's Breath and Queen Annes Lace both are in season in September where I live.

All my flowers are out of season. I chose a florist who has an extremely good reputation and orders direct from all over the world meaning I can basically get anything I want. My recommendation would be to see what that florist CAN offer you, or look for a different florist.

We are using daisies, hydrangeas and orchids. As others have posted, there are many different types in season.

My florist said in my area (the Midwest) not a lot of flowers are in season in September. What she's having me do is send inspiration pictures and then she will let me know the most cost effective flowers we can use to get the look.
