Including Grown Daughter in Wedding

Lynn, on September 12, 2024 at 4:39 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 2

I'm getting married in a very small ceremony that is technically a destination wedding. It's just my partner and I. No wedding party. My father has passed away. I want my daughter to be involved in the wedding. She will be 25 by then. She is the only child I have and my partner doesn't have any children. This is a second marriage for both him and I.
I know she could be listed as the one "giving me away" but I don't like the idea of being given away. She's going to be the one to unite us as a family. He's been there for 8 years and they both shy from any reference from the terms of dad or step dad or anything like that, cause it's too emotional for the both of them.

What I need some help with is, what kind of title can I give that role? She's uniting a family but I can't think of any kind of terminology for that.
Any ideas?

Maybe she could get ordained online and actually officiate your marriage truly bringing the family together in unity. My fiancé and I have thought about doing this with one of our friends who is very dear to us.

She could be ordained and be the offciate.
Or maybe to a civil ceremony and she can be the witness. She could also be the Maid of Honor.
