Incorporating hummingbirds

AprilR, on December 11, 2016 at 9:12 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

My mom loves hummingbirds for several reasons that I'm not going to get in to. They mean a lot to her and always brighten up her day. Since she is paying a portion of the wedding, I wanted to incorporate them somehow into my wedding. Does anyone have any ideas how I can add hummingbirds into it? Decor, jewelry, etc? Nothing crazy just a little touch of them

I am totally there with your mom - hummingbirds are tiny, thirsty dinosaurs that are made of awesome.

How about you and your BMs wearing a couple of these in your hair?

I just used Google. Type in " hummingbird wedding", and you'll see other ideas. Zazzle seems to have a lot of hummingbird invites, and place card holders.

Delfina I tried to find hummingbird hair pieces on etsy and couldn't. I must have been typing the wrong thing to look them up. Thank you

Gymrat I tried doing that on Pinterest and a lot of things came up that were way over doing it. I'll try to just simply google it lol I'll also look on Zazzle for stationary things. It's a bit early for invitations right now, but when the time comes I'll start looking there. Thanks

I thought of having a cake topper of hummingbirds, but I'm not sold on it. I do like the idea of the place cards and the hair piece

You could always incorporate a hummingbird into the gift you give her. If they hold a personal meaning between the two of you that could be really special. If they're important to her because they represent possibly a sad time that got better or something truly personal to her, I can see an innocent guest asking "why the hummingbirds?" and people inadvertently getting more personal than she wants.

Also 100% possible I'm overthinking it because that's been the trend as I'm 3.5 months from our wedding. :-/

Have you looked for flower picks to put in your arrangements? I just did a quick Google search and found these http://www.ebay.com/itm/162082837943 but there's lots out there. If they're small, no one would probably give it a second thought except your mom.

Emma I do have a bracelet with a hummingbird on it that I just happened to stumble upon in a store one day that I plan on giving her! She's a huge bracelet person. Most of our family and her friends know why she love hummingbirds so much. Her father passed away before I was born and every time she wanted him around or thought about him, a hummingbird appeared so now she associates her father with hummingbirds. She loves telling people about it so I'm not worried about it getting too personal for her.

I hope it doesn't stay a trend for you! Good luck with the rest of the wedding planning and I hope it goes smoothly from here. Thank you for the tip

DF's favorite bird is a hummingbird, and they have special meaning in our relationship, so we incorporated them into our wedding.

Our escort cards are some laser cut wine glass sitters we got off AliExpress. I designed our invitation suite to incorporate them. My hairpiece is actually a combination of an ivory matte satin flower comb, and a sterling silver hummingbird pin I'll be mounting on a comb to put in my hair. Our centerpieces will incorporate some hummingbird LED candles I got a couple of years ago on clearance from Pier 1.

There really isn't a lot out there, and you really, really have to diligently hunt for it, but it can be found.

Here's our invite suite that I designed and pulled together from multiple sources. The invite itself is a photo invite from Shitterfly that I made a custom picture for the background for, the enclosures are from WPD, and the rest is from Cards and Pockets.

I've seen them (and butterflies) as picks in the centerpieces and bouquets. Maybe a reading in the ceremony?

MNA those are all so pretty! I agree there isn't a lot out there and you definitely have to hunt for stuff. Thanks for the ideas

Celia A reading would be nice. I like that idea also

Thanks everyone for the different ideas I never would have thought of doing!

For OP and @FMH, and anyone else looking, these are what I got for Escort cards. They're really cheap too, like $4.00/50.

Sorry, I edited because I didn't notice the first listing was all sky blue. This one has several colors for $4.00.
