Independent bartender- purchasing alcohol yourself

Emily, on January 29, 2020 at 8:30 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 6
Has anyone here hired an independent bartender and purchased alcohol yourselves? Looking to have beer/wine/ signature drinks for around 100 people for 5 hour reception & wondering how much people spent on alcohol doing it this way?

Thanks!

We're doing our own alcohol. We're going to get a few kegs (2-3), vodka cranberry for the ladies, rum and coke for the men, and then we're going to winery and making two batches of wine (one red and one white). Our venue provides us with a bartender (included in the cost) and we can supply our own alcohol.

I'm doing something like this! We're using a bartender provided by our caterer and providing our own alcohol. We're doing two different wines (a peach moscato and a red something or another), two types of beer, a signature cocktail, and a signature mocktail. Per our bartenders calculations I need to buy:

    • 13 bottles of champagne
    • 12 bottles of red wine
    • 12 bottles of white wine
    • 7 cases of beer (24 bottles per case)
    • Plus however many bottles of liquor and mixers I need for the Cock/Mocktails! I'm buying it slowly over the months leading up to the wedding and storing it in an upstairs closet!

So we are doing the same this for roughly 200 guests. Our families are German, Czech, and Irish (big drinkers) SO here are our numbers:

    Budlight/Coors/Michelob: 20 cases/20 cases\ 25 cases

    Red Wine\White Wine: 20 Bottles/20 Bottles

Grapefruit Rose and Vodka/French 75/ Whiskey & Coke: 180 servings of each

This comes out to 2150 total servings and $2466.78 for the alcohol alone.

It's for a 100 people, even though realistically I only have 69 invited!

Thanks! We’re going to be around 120 so this should be pretty close for us Smiley smile And under guest count is a great problem to have! Way better than having to cut people
