Infinity bridesmaids dress: pros and cons

Madia, on January 21, 2019 at 10:37 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
I like the look of the infinity dresses (the ones that you can tie up in a bunch of different ways) and am considering them for my bridesmaids. Those of you who have worn these kinds of dresses before, what are the pros and cons?

I think the pros are you can wear it lots of different ways and the cons are it can take a lot just to tie them. Sometimes dresses come with a link to a you tube video to see how to tie them

I wanted to use these for my bridesmaids dresses however my sister is really busty.. it’s hard to wear a bra with them so i had her try one on to see if it would work for her and unfortunately it did not so we had to go another route. I also agree with PP that even if she could wear one I dunno if we would have gone that route because it took a lot of time and effort trying to tie it. Just seemed like a lot for a an already stressful day.

My bridesmaids ordered infinity dresses off of Etsy. Not only were they super affordable, the fabric is super soft and durable. They all have tried them, tying them multiple ways and love them. They came with a bandeau top, which allows them to wear a bra with it. It was surprisingly flattering on all of the girls.

Pro, you can get a bunch if different styles from one dress.

Con, the material is a thin, stretchy, jersey knit that clings to every lump and bulge, offers zero bust support and makes it difficult to wear a bra.

If your bridesmaids all have super toned bodies and perky, firm, and small busts (about 34C and smaller) go for it.

A better option would be to find a company that fits the lowest budget provided by your bms (ask everyone privately) and offers a bunch a styles in the same color, fabric, and length. Azazie is a good option for $150 and under budgets. Another option would be to provide a skirt that would be flattering to all, then ask them to find a top to go with it.

I’ve worn one in a wedding and also had them for my bridesmaids. The Jenny Yoo ones are either tulle or chiffon and super flattering. Not sure what brand the person above tried on that was jersey material. I’ve never seen them in jersey. The David’s Bridal ones aren’t even jersey. I picked the dress because it literally looked great on everyone (size 2 to 24W) including pregnant bridesmaids and busty bridesmaids. It has enough support that i didn’t even need a bra (38DD) because I tied mine with straps. The only con was the length, the Jenny Yoo ones are super long, my Bridesmaid that was 5’10 even needed hers hemmed an inch. This was one of my favorite bridesmaid dresses I’ve worn and have worn it to formals since and at least 2 of my bridesmaids are re-wearing theirs for upcoming formals.

My bridesmaids are wearing these and its honestly made for every body size. We got ours from Davids Bridal. I love that they are in the same dress but they get to show their personalities with how they tie it to make them comfortable.

For example, my sister is very flat chested, she cannot wear it strapless, and she found a great way to tie it that holds the dress up and makes her comfortable. Another bridesmaid doesn't like to show her arms so she is making wearing hers cap sleeved. My bridesmaids are all different sizes, heights, and chest sizes. They all love the dress. DB even has a YouTube vid with different ways to tie it so the girls can watch it together and help each other out. I love that they will look so in sync in the same dress but different ways.

The Pro's are the things I listed above, I have yet to find any cons and I get married in 4 days.

I ended up going with your suggestion of having them pick their own dresses from one company in the same color, length, and fabric. The girls are loving it! Thanks!
