Informing guests of location change

HRH Mags, on February 8, 2013 at 8:27 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 6

Hey,

So we are changing the venue from GA to FL. We sent out a STD last fall which only said the wedding would be in (name of region) GA. None of the guests know the location of the first venue, they just knew it was somewhere in Ga mountains. So far we have only had 1 person inquire about the exact location and hotels in that area so I was going to at least email her to let her know of the change. The place we are changing it to is where we live, so it won't be completely random, lol.

We are planning on sending invites out in March. I was planning to add a note about the location change on the Faq's page I am including as well as on the website. Is this fine or do you think I should go ahead and send a note to everyone telling them of the change now? I'm just kinda worried that if something ELSE happens (God forbid) and plans get changed again I dont want to have to go back and tell people something different...or answer all the "why" questions right now.

Thoughts?

I had to do a change of venue notice AFTER my invitations went out... VERY long story. But it was painless. Putting it on your website and sharing it word-of-mouth would probably be fine. It's when the formal invitation goes out that makes the difference. But you might consider making a special effort to get the word out to non-FL residents that it will be in FL not GA. But I don't think you need to do anything formal.

I've had to change my venue as well (within the same city though) and was already planing on having a little insert in the envelope with the invite directing people to the website...I'll be wording it something like "we have changed the vision of our special day, you can find the info on the new venue and much more on our wedding website"

It helps limit the "why?" questions Smiley smile

You could do another std type of announcement "we are taking it to Florida!"

Maybe do a cute airplane ticket design?
