Hey girls! I began drinking infused water this week in order to detox since I have about 16 days until the wedding! I NEVER drink water so I tried infusing it with fruits to give it a better taste. Do you guys have any recipes? Also, if I add a little sweetener (like Splenda) does that ruin the whole point of me drinking water? I don't think it's so bad considering that it's still better than soda or juice. Thanks!

Well I don't hate water I just rarely drink it. Like someone mentioned, I think it's just that we are accustomed to sugary drinks.

I like the la croix canned waters when I want something flavored usually. They are pretty good, satisfy your soda craving but don't have any sugar, artifical sugars or salt

I find it very easy to get of the habit of drinking water. I love tulsi green tea and sometimes I add ginger and lemon. Also buying a water bottle that holds at least 16 oz (two servings of water) has been really helpful for me.

I would stay away from waters that have anything other than natural favors , I would stay away form sugars or sugar substitute.

Edit: I have a miu color water bottle from amazon. It amazing, I've dropped it soo many time on concrete or wood floor and it's never broken.

Water is my life! i constantly drink it. I prefer just plain water, or plain seltzer. I also like lime seltzer. Not a huge fan of infused water, it would have to depend on the flavor.

Mrs.Magallan2016, if you're more accustomed to sugary drinks you could boil fruit. Yesterday after chopping up a pineapple FH put the core of the pineapple and extra pieces that were cut off into a pot of water and boiled it for about 30-45 minutes. It made a really concentrated natural juice and can probably just be added to regular water for naturally sweet flavors and/or stick it in the fridge or add ice for cold drinks. (He likes drinking it straight, it was a bit strong for me but I prefer regular water.)

Drinking water is good but the term "detox" is a bullshit marketing word uses to sell pointless products. The only way to detox is to have a liver and kidney.

"I don't hate water I just rarely drink it."

What really helps me to regularly drink water is my Nalgene. Honest to god, if I didn't fill it up every morning and keep it at my desk, I would shrivel into a prune.

I used to wonder how people could dislike water, but then I lived in Japan and just started drinking tea allllll the time. I can only drink a small amount of sugar or juice before I get grossed out from the sugar, but if you get accustomed to having some flavor then plain water just isn't as interesting! I guzzle ice water every time I go to a restaurant though. Somehow it's just less interesting at home or work.

OP, they used to sell infused "spa water" at the Whole Foods near my house. My favorites were with a variety of berries (blueberries, raspberries, etc.) and pineapple+mint. A restaurant near me puts cucumber and maybe melon in their water in the summer. That is delicious too!

Strawberry and basil is one of my favorites. Watermelon and basil, lemon and mint, I'm a big fan of a fruit and a more leafy herb. I find that with citrus if you leave the skin on, it eventually gets very bitter IMO. So I have to either drink it within a few hours or remove the fruit after a while. That is not one I can make the night before and enjoy the next day.

I also have a hard time drinking plain water so I infuse it for flavor. I have done apples and cinnamon. Cinnamon is supposed to boost your metabolism. Sometimes I'll just throw a small handful of raspberries in, but you need to drink the water fairly quickly (in 3 hours or so) or the raspberries basically disintegrate you and get chunks in your straw.

I like lemon and lime in my water, but I drink a LOT of tea personally.

If you really want that sweet flavor, brew some dried stevia leaves with your tea instead of using the chemically processed stuff. It tastes SO much better, and isn't going to make you crave sugar like artificial sweeteners do. I used to get it in bulk on eBay super cheap.

I love cucumber, lemon, and mint in my water. I also drink a lot of unsweetened herbal tea, and sparkling water.

I'm with Crystal - that's what I put in mine! I also use Wildtree's Margarita mix to flavor. It's nothing but lime juice and agave syrup, and I use only a splash (the entire bottle makes 8 margaritas, but lasts me over a month as a water flavoring). Seriously, it's amazing.

I love sparkling water! That's all I've been drinking lately along with infused water. I'd definitely forget the Splenda. I love plain old lemon or lime water. Cucumbers and mint, blackberries umm you could use fresh herbs such as Rosemary, basil, mint etc. hint water is also really good if you can find it.

I'd be careful with sparking water...When I use to drink it, I felt bloated all the time. Someone actually had to point it out to me that the water might actually be causing me to be bloated due to the carbonation. You could always try it though. Also maybe instead of thinking of it as a detox think of it as being healthier overall with better looking skin.

I usually will fill a large pitcher of water with cucumber, lemon, and mint at the minimum and then like to also add strawberries and/or blueberries. Let it sit for a least two hours in the fridge! Smiley smile
