So Saturday night FH and I were at a friend’s house by a campfire. I noticed my ring finger was starting to itch a little, but didn’t think much of it. So Saturday night FH and I were at a friend’s house by a campfire. I noticed my ring finger was starting to itch a little, but didn’t think much of it. A minute later, I started fidgeting with my engagement ring....... then realized it wouldn’t come off! We went inside to see it in the light, and it turned out I got a mosquito bite ON THE KNUCKLE OF MY RING FINGER (what are the odds?!?) and I was having an allergic reaction! The finger swelled up so big that I couldn’t get the ring off, and then the ring started cutting off the circulation to my finger... I started to lose feeling in my finger.

Long story short, we ended up in the emergency room at 12:30am. We had 4 doctors and 2 nurses desperately trying to hold back laughter at the ridiculousness of the situation. They ended up having to cut my ring to get it off Smiley sad

In spite of all that, the good news is..... (1) my warranty covered the repair of my engagement ring (we got it fixed yesterday, good as new!) (2) my bug bite is less swollen today (3) we ended up getting our wedding bands while we were at the jewelry store!

Anyway, just thought I’d share the story of my crazy weekend. FH and I had a good laugh about having to change our ceremony script to remove the part about the ring being an unbroken circle that symbolizes an unbroken marriage. Ha. We decided that we liked this experience as a new metaphor... that nothing is ever broken beyond repair, and we can get through any adversity and come out stronger and better than ever!

Hopefully you all can get some amusement out of my misfortune, and celebrate with me about our wedding bands! We love that we took such a terrible experience and ended up getting something great out of it!

Hahaha don’t feel bad, it’s honestly so hard not to laugh at myself too 😂

Honestly though, I was at the hospital in the middle of the night (slightly delirious from all the Benadryl) with my finger turning purple and going numb, the doctor telling me that he was going to have to cut my engagement ring, but my FH was there next to me. I just remember thinking in that moment, for someone who just had such a ridiculous series of unfortunate events and seemingly bad luck, I still felt like the luckiest person in the world!

That’s really cheesy but it’s true! I feel like it really was an opportunity to see things with an awesome perspective. Out of all the things to be in the hospital for, I’m glad it was this. It’s just a ring!

Hi Genevieve! Wow, I am so sorry that this happened to you! What a relief that your warranty covered your ring and that you’ve already been able to get it fixed. It’s nice that your takeaways from this incident are positive and that you found comedic relief in redoing your wedding script. Also, your wedding band is really beautiful and pairs perfectly with your engagement ring! I’m glad to hear that everything worked out in the end!
