Insert/Detail Cards w/Invitations

SnappyLove2015, on December 8, 2014 at 3:45 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 24

Hey Ladies! Our reception is at a different location than our ceremony. I was considering doing an extra insert card but not sure how to go about it. I was thinking about putting Reception to immediately follow at Esperanza's Bakery, Address, Texas *note on location. and also add the Hotels that have been Blocked: Accommodations - Marriott, Hilton, Embassy Suites. Is there any other information that we should put on these cards...OR should i have separate cards for each? Also, should I put the phone #'s of the Hotels or just add my "See or website for addt'l information at the bottom. For those of you who have done insert/details cards please share what information you included. As well as any other ideas and wording!

Hope this wasn't confusing! Thanks!

I just included the website on the insert card, but all my stuff is happening at the same location. I think you could leave the hotel info off if you have a website. Normally what I've seen is the addresses of each location and maybe a small map.

@ Silan - Okay Awesome! Thanks. ceremony address will be on the invite. So should i put both on the Details card. Ceremony, Address, Map & Reception, address, Map?

This is what we are doing: Main invite will have the address, same for ceremony and reception and will say reception to follow. Then for inserts I have a directions card, it has a map as well as directions. I know some people have gps, but most of my family doesn't use it. And most people aren't from the area and could use the directions. The details card has the hotel block info with hotel name, address, phone number and website to book, as well as the rate. The details card also has a note at the bottom encouraging people to visit the wedding website for more information. If we were doing a separate location for the reception we would do a reception card as well.

I will tell you Snappy that I never would have ordered separate cards if I wouldn't have gotten such an awesome deal. Before VP, I was going to put reception info on the invite.

Thanks Natalie! My mom doesn't "trust" the gps. She's crazy and gets lost every time she has come to mine and FH house. So i totally feel you on that. And like your guest majority of ours are out of towners as well.

@FMZ - I always figured I would have to do at least a reception card since we are in 2 different locations for ceremony & reception. And the amazing deals that keep arising are awesome and even better! I haven't worked 1 real minute at work today and trying to bust all the wording for invites, details, etc out so i wont miss them again!

Are you doing a pocket invite or having all these inserts loose? How's it looking on postage? Have you got that far yet? Okay seriously in love with your inserts now! That map is great! Did you make it? And how!?

I would do an insert since it's at a different location. I think putting the names and cities of the hotels that have been blocked and a "see the website" comment should be enough. Doing it on one card will make it easier for ppl to keep track of and save you on postage.

Snappy, I was lucky enough to find someone to design everything for me. She used google maps then put a line and little symbols to show the 2 locations. I have a belly band. The seal for the band was printed 2 at a time on a business card.

I am doing a pocket fold to keep everything together and I just like the neatness of it. I designed everything myself. I would post pictures but I'm not on my computer. I haven't figured out exact postage yet, but factored extra into my budget to cover postage. I figure the $140 I have in my budget for 65 invites should cover postage, even if I have to pay extra for the added weight.

Thanks Snappy Smiley smile and haha on the FI saying no to pink. FI was like whatever you want until I said I wanted hot pink and orange then he put his foot down. I truly don't know what I was thinking but he likes to make fun of me now and my seizure inducing color scheme I once had in mind

My advice is put the number to the hotel. We ordered out invites and I noticed FH didn't put the phone number, however we did say for additional details see our website. I put the question up to here WW'ers whether I should send them as is or re-order the one insert card, they all said to just send them. IT still bothered me though. I don't want guests to them have to search to find the phone number and in my case they have to book through the phone to get the deal for our block. I ended up re-ordered the insert card (which all worked out because as long as we returned the other ones they refunded the cost). I want the guests to enjoy our wedding from all aspects starting with getting the invites, I don't want to add extra work on them. Since you have three hotels I would do separate enclosure cards for the reception and the accommodations
