Ashley, on April 29, 2017 at 11:44 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12

Im wondering if anyone has experience with using instagram live feeds for their wedding and if there are any that you recommend? Are there any free ones?

If you're talking about having people view your ceremony remotely, Skype is what I see the most often. There are paid video services too.

Sorry I will clarify! We have a few TV's throughout the reception site on the walls and it would be for people to post pictures from the wedding to Instagram using our hash tag and it would show up on the live feed! The pictures would also be ours to keep as memories from the night! I'm just not sure what apps or websites are good for that!

Personally? I think it's overkill. Let people be at the wedding, enjoy the wedding and help create it. I'm not anti-tech, but I think the 'let's share everything!" mentality has taken over to the point that it is really over the top.

Many, many people who post here on the "we need a cute hashtag' threads will tell you that very few people even use them.

    Let them be guests.

Don't you have a wedding photographer? I don't really understand why you'd want this?

A lot of people do this whether they have a photographer or not. Seems to be more common with the younger social media generation. I doubt photogs will hashtag and post pictures to Instagram also. Not sure what services people use for this but a quick google search will probably help.

Understood, but all things in moderation. I had a bride ask me about going off a list and explained to her that I don't. Because I'd be too focused on that bloody list and not see what's right in front of me that needs to be documented. Oversharing and under noticing and just enjoying the day, seems to exceed moderation.

Speaking as part of that "younger social media generation", I find it to be a bit much. Quite frankly, while hashtags are fun and I'd love to see the photos, I'd much rather be in the moment and view them later. It doesn't matter if it's via my own Instagram feed or shuffling through TV screens around the venue; I, personally, would rather dance and socialize with my guests at the reception versus looking at screens.

I'm not sure how on the technology side that you would pull this off. but that's just me. Perhaps someone more tech-savvy than myself can assist you with this, if you feel so compelled to do it.

There's another thread going on about photo booths. Look up Simple Booth and see if it might be what you're looking for.

This one seems to be really user friendly.

I think its a great idea, its like the old kodaks on the tables. It allows you to get your guests candid photos too and it encourages them to share them with you so you have them for your video or scrapbook later. Apps can be alot more challenging than people using their own social media accounts they already have.
