Intermittent Fasting

Chandra, on February 28, 2019 at 8:58 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 17
Just started intermittent fasting last night/this morning. I'm hoping I can lose 15-20lbs in the next 6 weeks. I've got my next dress fitting on April 13th! My dress fit like a glove but I think it would be a little more comfortable with a little more room..

Anybody else used IF for weight loss? Tips are always appreciated!!

I’ve been doing it since November and have lost a total of 55lbs so far.

Hey date twin! I’ve not done IF before but I’ve heard of people having good luck with it. I could never do that bc my schedule is so different from day to day, but whatever works for you! I’ve been doing carb cycling by counting macros and I’m down 4 lbs since last week so I’m hoping for another 10lbs or so before the way day! My first dress fitting is 3/13. Good luck!

That's so awesome!! Congrats on such great results! Do you count your calories during the eating period? If so how many do you shoot for?
I dont want to lose too much too fast so I might have to find a balance in April to maintain any weight loss before the wedding in May.

I've heard lots of great things!! I had an awesome meal plan before but it involved 6 meals a day and that so cumbersome I couldn't keep it up this time around. So dumb because I kept it up for 6months before I met FH!! Then I got complacent and gained back all 65lbs I lost. >_<

It definitely works. A girl on here a while back told me I had an eating disorder bc of it but no it’s definitely the best.

Yes I count calories during my eating window. I may consume about 1200 at most. Least I consume is a little over 1000. With the Intermittent Fasting my appetite has decreased greatly. But it helps so much with me not doing the last night snacking. I would stay up late and just snack on anything and everything.

Wow, how ridiculous! I was reading up on it before and talked to FH about it. The sciences behind it made me feel okay with it!

I'm an afternoon snacker. FH said I should maybe start at 1800 calories and bump it down 200 or so every couple weeks just to make sure i don't get too crabby in thr first couple weeks. Today i got in about 1550 and i feel pretty ok!

Be careful, it massively messed up my hormones and caused huge issues. Just monitor your body

I lost 8 lbs in the first 2 weeks! I’m now down almost 15 after about one and a half months! And I’ve kind of slowed down, I’m back into a healthy weight range for myself so it’s not flying off as fast as it did in the beginning. I fast from 8pm- 1pm (I only drink black coffee, tea and water with lemon during this time) and I try to break the fast with a veggie filled meal. I also don’t kill myself about it, if it’s a Sunday and we feel like going to breakfast, I do it and don’t feel guilty, if I feel like breaking the fast with buttered noodles I do that too Smiley smile I think a big thing that helped me was cutting cream and sugar from my coffee, it was a big change at first but it helped me start my day with a healthy mindset, and now, typically I’m craving healthier foods, like vegetables and good protein. And it’s really not as difficult as I though it would be!

here is a great video that I watched on YouTube that helped me feel a little more confident with what I was doing, and helped me clear up some misconceptions between myself and my fiancé.

I have been eating this way for over a year. I had no idea it was a thing or actually called something. I started with just cutting down the carbs but once that happened my appetite decreased greatly. I just dont get hungry nor can i eat as much as i used to. I lost over 30lbs in a 6 month period. I actually lost too much and am now gaining back. Only problem now, is I look at food and I can feel the weight gain very quickly.

Just be careful because if you don't keep up a similar calorie intake after the wedding, you can easily gain the weight back. I already have multiple food restrictions (gluten and dairy are most prominent) and I also eliminated sugar. While I lost 20 pounds before the wedding, I put 50-60 on afterward. When I talked about it with my nutritionist (I wasn't seeing her before the wedding), she said the body can go into starvation mode when you restrict too much and that's why people yo-yo after a diet. Best of luck to you!

I'm planning to keep it around 1600 for the long term, beyond the wedding. I have over 100lbs to lose. I'm also using this as a way to regain a better relationship with food choices.

Here's the thing: Intermediate fasting doesn't work unless you're in a caloric deficit! Just create a plan and stick to it! Good luck! Smiley heart

Thanks! 2400ish is my maintenance intake from my experiences. So definitely a deficit for me.
