International Hostess-Is this a scam?

TheBride:), on January 9, 2017 at 10:17 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 41

Has anyone heard of this company or sat through one of their presentations? They just called saying that we won all this stuff including giftcards and vacations. All we have to do is sit through a 90 minute presentation of their products (homegoods)...... not sure how I feel about this.

Yeah, we figured that part out---guess I am wondering if they really give you everything they say they will if you go and don't buy anything

Are the same ones who try to hard-sell you very expensive pots and pans?

Omg I got a phone call too from a bridal show I went to on Saturday. It was a restricted number so I didn't answer, but they said that they wanted to get my gifts to me.

"If it's too good to be true, it's not."

There's nothing new about these "sit and listen to lectures about timeshares and get, blah, blah, blah, for free." That trap was around when I was married 35 years ago. The only reason anyone would pay one dime for your vacation is because they believe they're going to get that investment back -- times ten. Believe me, no legitimate business is going to hand you a free vacation (especially when they're offering that same "prize" to everyone else who signed up at the wedding expo). The "you won" nonsense is just insulting. It's a sales tactic, and if you google it, you'll get a clearer understanding of how this works. If you turn them down (as did the 15 couples in front of you), they're sure they can hook one of the 20 remaining couples on their list. Winning means you signed up. That's all.

For at least 10 reasons, I suggest you just walk away.

Technically it could only.l be a scam if they take your money and don't deliver on the promise. FH and I sat through one and got the vouchers for stuff and it didn't cost us a penny. They were also up front about what costs we would be expected to pay

Me and my Fiance'e "won" a free vacation and a pair of wedding bands at the Suffolk Community College Bridal Expo last weekend from "the bridal division" of International Hostess, a Cookware Company... Felt like it was BS but I know some ppl actually sit out the sales pitch and make off with some goodies any one here specifically went through this company?

This appears to be the deal, narrow options but it is clear about the 90 min sales pitch http://internationalhostess.com/promotioms/

Don't do it. They will really try to sell you stuff and that 90 minutes often turns into more as they get pushy

I went to the presentation last night. The vacation seems like a scam, but I already ordered the rings. Hopefully we get the right stuff because I paid for engraving and shipping. I'll probably bring the rings in somewhere and make sure they're worth what they said, which wasn't very much, actually. The other prizes I haven't checked out yet, but we'll see.

Just got this call from International Hostess as well from unknown number or (631) 923-2188. They said 5% of us won, same speech on the prizes and I need to come to Springfield, VA to collect. Even tried to level with the lady over the phone about it being a sales call, but nope still telling me it's 100% real. I had the feeling of it being a scam right away, but am curious it anyone actually has gone.

We had something similar, went to a bridal show and they said we had won if we came. Went to the show it was about pots and pans, you got a book of coupons, voucher for a free knife if you pay shipping, and a free vacation. They were upfront on the vacation and said you would have to pay a deposit when you book etc, I haven't called about the vacation to see if it was legit or not.

I received my call today from the an entry I submitted at the bridal show held at Suffolk CC. Per this thread I may not respond to the voicemail since it seems to all be a hoax.
