International Hostess-Is this a scam?

Has anyone heard of this company or sat through one of their presentations? They just called saying that we won all this stuff including giftcards and vacations. All we have to do is sit through a 90 minute presentation of their products (homegoods)...... not sure how I feel about this.

I received that same phone call today saying I won 2 wedding bands, a free vacation, champagne flutes and 1 yr subscription to something- I forget what. All from the bridal expo at Suffolk CC. I have to go to this show and listen for the their seminar about their cutlery they sell. Not sure how I feel about this.

I got a call from a vendor from a bridal show and won our rings and a week long vacation and all we had to do was go to a hour long presentation which was kind of fun. We get pick whatever rings we want and the trip never expires. They gave us the card for the rings and the packet for the trip right then and there as soon as the seminar was over

*Following this thread* I got the same call this morning! We "won" a vacation package and wedding rings from a blocked number. I haven't decided if I want to call back yet. It was from the Hunt Valley bridal expo at the Embassy Suites.

I just got a call today too! It seems too good to be true but from reading some of the comments it kind of sounds legit. Does anyone recommend it?

Just got the call this afternoon. I am interested in the wedding bands and champagne flutes not so much on the vacation because of all the restrictions... considering going this weekend to see what the 90 minutes "preview products and "cooking show" is all about. I can't afford any fancy cutlery with this wedding so if anything, it would be time "wasted" that fiance and I spend together. If we do go, I'll keep everyone posted on how it ends up!

Got the same call earlier today. My fiancé says it's a scam and not to go. But from what I'm reading it seems to be mixed reviews if it's legit or not. Not sure what to do. We're supposed to go tomorrow to pick up our "gifts" but I don't want to be tricked into something. The woman says there's no catch but now I'm not sure...

It's not legit in the sense of being completely "free". All the gifts require you to mail/go online to submit your info on the back of each free item voucher but you pay shipping and handling four your free item that ranges from $5 to $25. $100 refundable reservation deposit payment for the vacation. Went to one over the weekend and it they did offer what they said they would. It was a sales presentation for pots, pans and knifes and cooked a small batch of chicken and vegetables to sample. Lasted a little over 90 mins but my fiancé and I knew we would not purchase. If you do want to purchase it's $1,800-2,700 depending on what set you choose and you can make monthly payments and if you purchase their product you get a 8 day Free trip as a thank you for purchasing. Presentation guy was very cool at the beginning and upfront about people coming for their free gifts and to just please "pretend like your listening". Which we appreciated but then at the end he finished and everyone was kinda of waiting to get their free gifts. Instead he gave everyone a catalog to purchase and he sat down. Got awkward from their because their were some people interested and some who obviously were not. One couple left already since they already received all their "free" gifts/vouchers during a game in the presentation. Then a ladies fiancé during the purchasing time got up to ask the presenter Jerry if they were still going to get their gifts. He responded with an attitude and I don't know if the couple who left and didn't purchase anything got him frustrated but he responded so rudely to him and was very upsetting to see. The couple eventually left with their stuff. My fiancé and I followed once we decided on the blue or purple vacation options (each color has their own set of destinations and weather it included a resort tax or not). He was nice to us when we said we would not purchase but just had a frustrated look that we also did not purchase. He was definitely not aggressive thoughout his presentation. Mostly the end of the presentation was just awkward and had some tension. So if you decide to go for the presentation just say thank you for the presentation at the end and let him know whichvacation package you want and leave with some "free" gifts.

Not a scam. Just a way to sell cookware. We went and bought the cookware and got 8 days in the Bahamas. We have to pay air fair and around $250 in taxes. No black out dates. Got the glasses to get you pay $250. Rings just shipping. Also a $200 to buy wedding stuff. Legit a really good product they are selling. I'm really happy I went.

Received the same call from International Hostess last night. Lady on the phone was kind of vague when I asked questions. I asked what booth this was from and she said "We were the ones with the pots and pans, yes the pots and pans." I am pretty sure this was the one with some rings and a fast talking man standing in front it, not the one with pots and pans. Anyway, after her whole script, lady was still a bit confused (or distracted) as she kept repeating things. I asked her what the catch was and she said you just had to come and see the cooking demonstration for 1.5 hours. Received a call today to confirm (and after reading all of these responses!) I politely told her that I don't think we will be attending. She asked for my reason and I said that they don't particularly have a great reputation online and that there seems to be more to getting these "gifts" then what they are telling me. She did not argue with me, she did not try to convince me otherwise...she in a very annoyed tone said "Fine, we will just give your gifts to someone else" and hung up on me. I think I made a wise choice in not going!

Got a call from a private number saying I "won" something from the Queen Mary Bridal Show. Saying my number was randomly selected and congratulations. (631) 923-2188 is a call back number, my security tracker says the phone number is in New York. We supposedly won wedding bands and vacation and you'll have to show up at some hotel next to Knott's Berry Farm to collect your gift, but it'll have a 90 minute presentation prior to you collecting your "gift bag". It is some sort of crystal plate display. Said this offer only apply to couples who have won.

After reading all the comments here, I don't think we will go.

They might also known as National Hostess/ Chef World Inc. / Century Lifestyles. There are other related post on wedding wire on this scam. Look them up.

I won one of these packages and you do have to sit through the presentation to receive the prizes but you do get the prize vouchers after the presentation

Called me today, I won 3 prizes and HAVE to come in with my fh tonight or tomorrow night. When I told the woman that we weren't available until the next week, she suddenly got rude and said that I HAVE to come in tonight or tomorrow or else I'd lose my prize. Ha!!! I think it's definitely a scam

I got the call from International Hostess today. I've gone to their website- http://internationalhostess.com/promotioms/ - and I'm waiting for an email from them in the next 24 hours for their presentation in Philly on Saturday. I spoke to two women- I called back later to see if the story would change- and they both said several times that you're not obligated to purchase anything, they just want your feedback. As for the gifts you've won, you pay taxes and shipping, which is supposed to be outlined in the packets they give you after the show.

IF we end up going, I'll come back to let you know how it went.

I just received another one of these calls and not sure if I'm going to go...

I went to one that I received after attending a bridal show in January and it was just like they said, sitting through a 90 minute talk about how great their pots and pans were, they cooked us food, and then told us all that we won. We didn't have to buy anything, we got our vouchers for the trips and how to order the free knives that came with it. We have yet to do anything with them but I'm not about to sit through another one if it's just the same scam. Should we??

Also, who gives me less than 24 hour notice!? "You and your FH must both be present to receive your prizes, the times will be 12, 3, and 6pm tomorrow." like what?!

Ugh... should I go? This trip includes Mexico, Dominican Republic, or Bahamas... The other one I got was just US. But they did say we'd have to pay taxes for airlines and hotels.

Here's the funny thing for me, I haven't gone to any bridal shows just yet so I'm not sure who exactly sold my number. The phone number given to me on the message to call back at, when googled, belongs to an Optometrist in NY (I'm in Southern CA) and no details were left other than "Jackie" has "great news" to share with me. You know, if a company has to call from a private/ blocked number then nothing good can come from that in my opinion.

I just got a call from them but didn't answer!

I never went to any bridal shows or expos.

It wasn't blocked so I googled the number, although the call back number she gave in the voicemail was different. The results led me to this thread. Guess I won't be calling back!
