Intimate wedding and dancing

FH and I have decided to go the intimate wedding route and we’re looking at getting a dj. I’m wondering if because our wedding is so small, if people will get up and dance or if they are just going to sit and mingle? Anyone have any experience with this?

How many people? In my experience, the fewer the people, the less chance they will dance.

We’re having 12 guests, no dj. Our guests wouldn’t dance much so it isn’t worth it. We might have soft music playing in the background though.

I think it depends the people, what demographic, 20s, 30s, etc... I’ve been to a very intimate wedding with 15 people and we danced our souls out, we even did some karaoke lol

I am having 20, and definitely no DJ. I just think it would be awkward. I know my family won’t dance and just having 10 friends, they’re unlikely to start dancing. I may get an acoustic guitar player for my ceremony and reception or go the iPod route.

Having a DW with 24-30 guests. Was contemplating on no DJ but I decided on having one.

It’s a know your crowd situation. I had a catered birthday party with a DJ when I was 23 and about 30 people and we all danced. I don’t care if it’s 10 or 100 people I’d be dancing but I guess not everyone is like that?

I had 40 people and a 9-piece band and people loved it! Everyone danced all night. We didn't think DH's family would dance, but we couldn't get them off the dance floor!
