Intimate wedding….maybe have an after party?

Cassie, on November 1, 2021 at 12:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 3
We recently got married…YAY! and my husband wants to have a party with friends and family. Our intimate wedding was just parents and his daughter. Should we have a party? If so what kind of party? I don’t want it to get out of control financially. Need ideas/suggestions for party, we plan on having live music that we had at our wedding. The holidays are right around the corner so another concern should we waiting until next year like April….. PLEASE HELP

I had a similar situation. We had originally planned back in January 2019 to get married in December 2020 with 50+ guests... for obvious reasons that did not happen. So instead we decided to get married in December 2020 just in the city hall in an intimate ceremony with just our parents. Now that things are opening up again we are having a more “elaborate” wedding ceremony in the church with a nice boat ride and dinner after in a hotel in 1 month. We are still only six people since we were afraid of restrictions.

All this to say, go for it. Maybe keep it small if you have a budget you want to stick to and make it nice. Spoil yourself on the day 💁🏻‍♀️

It does not have to be a BIG party at all and it doesn't have to be super fancy! My FH's cousin got married in Cabo and then a month later she had a celebration with other family and friends who couldn't make it. She had the celebration at her mom's house. They set up a few decorations here and there. They set up tables and chairs outside. And I believe they had a taco truck for food. And they had some desserts laid out inside. Oh, and their giveaways were little succulents. So, they didn't do TOO much. Sounds like she spent around $1,500 for everything (rentals, taco truck, decor, desserts, party favors, and drinks) for 40 people.

Hi Cassie! Do you have a house or family member's backyard that would work well for this?? That would be a great way to skip the cost of a venue!

You could do a big BBQ and casual celebration, or if you want something more formal you could host people for cocktails and desserts!!
