Invisalign

I have Invisalign and it doesn’t look like it’s going to be finished before our wedding in September. I am FREAKING OUT. Mostly because I have the clear “pressure points” OR “anchors” on all of my front teeth so even without the trays it’s VERY noticeable that I’m having orthodontic work. They look like clear braces brackets to me. Not discrete at all! The last thing I want to see looking back on our wedding photos is a messed up smile (which is why I took the plunge to get work done) but I feel like the Invisalign is even worse at this point. I need some help. Has anyone experienced this? I have a few weeks until I’m back at the orthodontist, I was do distressed when I was told it wouldn’t be finished I shut down. Has anyone had the pressure points removed and put back on for an event? I know I can just not wear the trays the day of but it’s the anchor things that I’m super concerned about. HELP!

Is it just about the photos? How good is your photog at photoshop?

I hear you though. hope it doesn't cost too much!

I don't think you would notice in far away shots, but if you are really concerned about it. Ask your ortho what he can do to help you in this situation. I had braces not invisalign so I am not sure if it is even possible to get them taken off. But it never hurts to ask.
If they absolutely can't take them off just for the wedding, then your photographer should be able to edit them out in any pictures they are noticeable. Good luck!

I also have Invisalign with buttons. My orthodontist offered to shave off the attachments for the wedding. I wouldn't have agreed to treatment if it wasn't for this promise. I'll get them back on after the wedding.

It is time consuming for them so I can see why some won't. It wouldn't hurt to ask!

One more thing: can you speed up treatment? Invisalign is now approved for one week wear, so if you're doing two weeks, you could ask your ortho if you can speed things up.

I had the buttons and couldn't see them in any pictures I took. Are you sure they show up? If so, definitely ask to have them removed and put back on, but it might have a cost associated with it.

Your orthodontist can likely remove the buttons and replace them after the wedding. You probably won’t want to go too long without them though otherwise your aligners may no longer fit and getting new ones may be an additional cost. Just speak with your orthodontist about it. Don’t get too upset about it now your teeth will move a lot between now and September! Make sure you are wearing the aligners as much as possible between now and then so you can get the quickest results! Some people are not very compliant with keeping in the aligners and that can significantly delay their progress.

I also have invisalign and am not sure if I'll have them off for my June wedding. My dentist told me she could shave the buttons off, so yes it is possible. I agree with the person who commented on wearing them as much as possible! I know it's a pain but the more you wear them, the better your teeth will move. I wear each aligner for 8 days so it is possible to "speed things up", if your teeth are moving appropriately. On the bright side, your teeth will move a lot by September so your smile will be beautiful even if youre not completely done! Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your help and easing my anxiety about this. As long as I can get the anchors off for the wedding I’ll be ok and will continue to suffer with brace face until then. I’m so glad to know that’s something others have done, and I’ll ask ASAP! Didn’t know that was an option! I’m hoping that they’ll let me do the once per week tray, as I’m on every 2 weeks. Fingers crossed for me!

I had a metal retainer in high school that I couldn't remove, and my senior portrait photographer was able to photoshop it completely out. A quality photographer can photoshop too.

I have a similar issues. I went with braces because the Invisalign would give me buck teeth. At my consultation I told them they would need to be off by May for my wedding. My orthodontist said no problem. Last month I said okay when do I get these off I’m getting married in May. He looked so surprised. Yes I know a year goes by fast but they could have wrote it on my chart to make sure to keep moving them faster. Well my two options are to get them off and be happy that they fixed my two front teeth that were overlapped. Or get them off and pay $250 to get them back on after the wedding. I too was very upset because that was the point is to have perfect teeth for my wedding.

Oh no!!! I am so so sorry to hear they won’t meet your timeline either! I totally understand shutting down when hearing the news. I would be so upset as well. I hope they can figure it out for you!!! Maybe clear retainers/trays like Invisalign can help finish the corrections if you get the traditional braces off before the wedding? Wishing you the best!
