Invitation and RSVP timing

033118, on October 19, 2017 at 5:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

Hi all. I'm hoping for some guidance with timing for sending out invites, and rsvp due dates. About 1/2 of our invite list will be traveling from out of state, but the wedding is local for us. We did send STDs to VIPs.

Just hoping for a guideline of when to mail out invites, and when to request RSVPs back by.

I'm waiting to hear back from our caterer about the final headcount deadline, but I'm assuming it to be a week before the wedding since that's when our final payment is due.

6-8 weeks is standard mail time for the invites - with RSVPs to be received at 3-4 weeks before the event. You can move things up a bit earlier if its a DW or during peak vacation and holiday travel times.

I sent mine out on 9/21 because everyone is from out of town and it's the holidays.

I set my reply by date as 12/01 which is driving me crazy right now, wish I would have set it for before thanksgiving just so I would know.

Final count is due to venue 10 days before.

I think 8 weeks before the wedding is an ideal time to send invitations (6 weeks is a little short). The rsvp deadline should be 2 weeks before your venue requires a final head count. This gives you enough time to track down non-responders.

    Hi date twin

My Caterer needs 30 day final numbers and I gave myself a 1 week buffer to chase down rsvps!

I am sending our invites Last week in January and I put RSVP deadline of Feb 24th hope that helps as we are same day!!

We actually made the RSVP date 6 weeks before the wedding for two reasons 1) to avoid the holidays 2) we have quite a bit of international (Canada/Europe) guests and the postage takes 1-2 weeks longer to get here versus domestic. If we had everybody in the US and it wasn't around holiday time we would have made it a shorter time period.

I am glad I made mine just a tad earlier than it probably should have been.

I sent mine like Aug 28th. RSVP date due Oct 2 (1 week before hotel block deadline for DW).

We found out the week before the RSVP date that our hotel/venue sustained dmg from hurricane and wont be open until the beginning of 2018.

I am hoping to have everyone followed up with by this weekend. Because of the venue change we had to hold off on following up. We have 3 weeks from tomorrow before our date and its crunch time.

    Invites: 6-8 weeks

RSVP: No earlier than a month prior to the wedding. Any earlier than that and some may not have vacation/day off approvals yet. If your venue requires it earlier than that, push back because there's no reason they need it that early.

Same wedding date and since it's our (teachers) spring break and many of his family members are travelling from afar we are going to dispatch invites in January.
