Why are invitations so expensive?????? Everything I'm looking at is over $200 and then there's the cost of postage. I keep seeing post where others say they have saved so much money on Ann's Bridal, Zazzle, Vista Print, Minted and my favorite place ETSY. I guess i'm cheap because to spend over $200...

Why are invitations so expensive?????? Everything I'm looking at is over $200 and then there's the cost of postage. I keep seeing post where others say they have saved so much money on Ann's Bridal, Zazzle, Vista Print, Minted and my favorite place ETSY. I guess i'm cheap because to spend over $200 is insane to me for invitations. I need the invite, RSVP card, Card for hotel info and I planned on another card saying if you play these songs I promise to dance and let the guest name a few songs. Any ideas??? Suggestions????

Look for sales and coupons. I got 70 invites, RSVP cards, and the envelopes on Vistaprint for under $100.

The price also depends on how many invites you need.

I designed mine in photoshop and am printing them at home to save money, so far so good Smiley smile I did like Shutterfly’s selection though and they usually have sales often so look out for those too!

Can I ask where you purchased them? I'm definitely doing postcards, but haven't found any that reasonable!

Vista print! Design your own and then upload them. If you use their templates they charge you like 2.49 per invite but if you do it as a 5x7 postcard it’s wayyyyy cheaper. Which 5x7 are standard save the date and invitation size and then you can make RSVP cards a smaller postcard and it still doesn’t add up to what you would spend if you did it as one of theirs.

Yes to this! I don’t like the idea of wasted paper & shipping emissions for something that will inevitably end up in a trash can, for all guests except maybe few family members who will save invites for sentimental reasons.

I designed our invites with a help of graphic designer friend, because I wanted something unique & digital. We are sending them as e-vites. So easy to track all the guests & their responses directly on our website! Also it’s a great way to get the guests to our website that has all the wedding info, since guests have to go there to RSVP. We will print a few invites for our parents who would like a keepsake.

I ordered a template on Etsy, purchased cardstock, and will print them at home. My invites are going in a gate fold card which is also a template from Etsy, that I will cut out on my Cricut. I got envelopes from hobby lobby and ordered a stamp for the return address on Etsy. Excluding postage, I have spent $75

That's not bad at all. I don't have a printer or a Cricut so I will have to go somewhere to print. By I think I may go with Etsy as well

It depends on how many you need to order, I guess. I spent $62 total for a combination of 70 invitations and 70 RSVP cards on Vistaprint, which was plenty for the number of households we have in our overall guest count (120). But that was during the Black Friday 50% off sale. I think the key with sites like that is just to wait for sales, and they are always having them.

We used Shutterfly with a 50% of code and that day they had free shipping and the invitations came out so pretty. We spent $220 for 105 invites and RSVP cards with our address printed on the back. To save on an extra insert on the RSVP card I put the wedding website information. I use Zola as a wedding website and it has all the information that would be on the details card and on the RSVP page they can ask questions and make request.

I wanted to do an electronic invite to save money but a few friends were complaining that it was so tacky. But I just don't want to even spend the money on postage to send them out. ugghhhhhh

And my friends would complain if I made them actually go to a post office to mail RSVPs haha... I guess it depends on your crowd. Last 3 weddings we’ve been to all had e-vites & 2 of those weddings were very formal / upscale. All our friends & family are very digitally savvy, so they prefer everything digital whenever possible: rsvp, wedding website, registry etc.

But friends aside, you should do what you prefer & what you feel comfortable with. I personally cannot stand any type of physical mail (for above mentioned reasons; I unsubscribe from every possible bill & mail subscription lol). And we also always wanted to design our own wedding invitations. So e-vites were the perfect choice for us!

If nothing else, you don't even necessarily need paper invitations. You could do a video save the date or simply a website. We did that, and no one has said a single thing hahaha
