Why are invitations so expensive?????? Everything I'm looking at is over $200 and then there's the cost of postage. I keep seeing post where others say they have saved so much money on Ann's Bridal, Zazzle, Vista Print, Minted and my favorite place ETSY. I guess i'm cheap because to spend over $200...

Why are invitations so expensive?????? Everything I'm looking at is over $200 and then there's the cost of postage. I keep seeing post where others say they have saved so much money on Ann's Bridal, Zazzle, Vista Print, Minted and my favorite place ETSY. I guess i'm cheap because to spend over $200 is insane to me for invitations. I need the invite, RSVP card, Card for hotel info and I planned on another card saying if you play these songs I promise to dance and let the guest name a few songs. Any ideas??? Suggestions????

Have you looked at Michael’s or hobby lobby? I found my invitations on clearance and spent $45 for 90 invitations and used the template provided to print them.

I'm struggling to find inexpensive invitations and save the dates too! I keep thinking, "Me and my future husband could use this money to pay off a bill!!!"

Do you know anyone who can design them for you? I have a friend that’s actually in our wedding that designed the invites for us. I just sent her ideas and she came up with something. She has a printer she uses and sent the proofs to her. Since the printer didn’t have to design anything she gave a big discount. Ask around, you might find a friend that can design for you.

I bought mine on Ebay believe it or not. They printed for me and it included the invitation, plus 2 other cards you can use for anything you want. (Mine was the details card and RSVP). If I was thinking clearly I would have omitted the details card and made it a STD. They have tons of different options and several I saw that were cheaper than mine. They also printed our info on them. Several different designs.

Agreed! Paperless Post's invitations are so beautiful and elegant. I love the fact that it has inserts for the directions, photo cards etc. I think I paid less $100 for my invitations and I can track them.

You can try making your own and printing them at Walgreens or you can purchase from Shutterfly and use a coupon I purchased 80 of them for $175

I think you can combine some, like put the song suggestion line on the RSVP card. On the back on the invite, you could have all the accommodations info. That way you only need invite and rsvp card.

A friend of mine owns an Etsy shop called Designs Made Simple. I’ve used her for several shower invitations before, and she did an amazing job. She even made adorable invites for my bff’s baby shower based off photos I sent her of the nursery design. She creates your design and sends you the digital copy so that you can have it printed where you want (so if you have a coupon for vistaprint or staples, you can use it). Might be worth checking out Smiley smile

When my mom got remarried last year she told me that vendors tend to inflate prices when they hear the word wedding. What she did was when consulting with the vendor for invitations she said "I need them for an event I'm hosting" and was very vague. It was only after the price had been declared (and paid) that she informed them it was a wedding. She saved over $100. My cousin on the other hand made customized invitations from Shutterfly and it cost her a fraction if the price that most vendors will charge. Personally, I haven't gotten to the invitation stage of planning yet, so I'm just giving you information others gave me. Good luck!!

So far I found vista print to be the cheapest. Mint was was to expensive when I looked at save the dates. I think we are going to try and do as much of that ourselves as possible to try and save a little bit. We have to send out 260. Vista print for that many for me was $98, minted was $400. And that’s just save the dates

You can get the card with the hotel information from your wedding room block coordinator for free.

For the song request card, you can either customize an RSVP card from your invitation suite to include both the names and songs, or you can design and print your own custom invitation inserts using Avery products at home.

I ordered mine from Ann's Bridal Bargains. I only needed 25 invites and it was around $40. I think somewhere around $100 is to be expected for a larger wedding unless you make them yourself.

We also added a hotel card with our invites. I went to staples and ordered them as business cards. We got 100 cards for $5. And I was able to design them as I wanted. Super cheap option

I don't think $100 is bad at all but when you hit that $200 mark and then cross over that is when I cringe!!! Then there's the cost of postage and then keeping up with/tracking/following up ugghhhhhhh
