Invitation Envelope - Address Font

Invitation Envelope - Address Font 1

Hey! I had a lot of trouble with USPS for my save the dates (not the same issue) and want to avoid anything happening with my actual invitations. Does anyone know if they machines can read this cursive font for the addresses or should I make it all the simple type??

I really wanted to make them look pretty with the script but, I am just worried that they will get returned to me.

We had a similar font scheme for our invitations and there weren't any issue. I'd say keep the address part in something simple so it can be easily read. The post office doesn't really pay much attention to the name on the envelope, so that can be done in a fancier font.

It may help to stagger the delivery of the invites to the post office. That could at least make sure that one accident would not lose all the invites. As to the address, the zip code and street would be the critical items to be in a machine-readable font.

As previous posters said, I don’t think they pay attention to the name, just the address. Proof of that would be that I keep getting mail from previous residents that used to live at my place. As annoying as that is, they still have to deliver it there regardless because that’s the address printed. You’re using a legible block font for the address, so it should be fine.

Also wanted to add the USPS wants return addresses on the front, not the back due to new machines. I think some WW brides have had to cross their pre-printed versions by hand. Good luck

Oh, thank you so much for calling that out! Is it allowed to be both places? or will that mess up the machine?

That's actually the problem that I had with the Save the Dates where they all got mailed back to me the first time - that is so good to know that that's the reason

This is super helpful; thank you!
I am doing 1" x 2 5/8" labels. Will that be too small for a machine?

As long as the address itself is legible, the names don’t matter to the post office. That is a big reason in favor of doing whatever possible to have everything handwritten. Even if it means having a party with local friends to help out. Labels smear and printer ink smears in the elements, causing them to get lost in the mail, and some guests have had a history of not receiving invitations with labels for those reasons.
