Invitation Grammar - Help!

CountingDowntoMrs, on July 17, 2017 at 11:01 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Ok, I am questioning myself constantly on this.

Where are the appropriate places for commas? What about appropriate capitalization?

Ignore the awful print out, please. This is for grammar/editing purposes only!

    A couple of things:

-"Honor of your presence" is for church weddings. You want the phrase "pleasure of your company."

-get rid of "on" before "Saturday"

    -lowercase for the year

-spell out "East" in the address

    -remove the zip code

I would either capitalize both twenty-first and two thousand seventeen or neither. I think it looks odd that one number is capitalized and the other is not. I also think there should be a comma after October? I'm also not sure I would keep the "on" before Saturday. I think it would look a little cleaner without it. Is there a reason you spelled out your date and time? I used numbers, I'm not sure if there is a correct way to do it. I'd also recommend looking up examples of invitations. Good luck Smiley smile

I've looked up examples, and they're all different. That's why I gave up and came here for help. Oye!

ETA: thank you! You both hit the things I was questioning!

    I would use :

    Heather

    and

    Daniel

request the pleasure of your company at their wedding

    (line)

    Saturday, the twenty-first of October

    two thousand seventeen

at five o'clock in the evening

Then spell our "east" and drop the zip code

I would make everything about the date/time the same for size as well

"All the roads led to you" just doesn't seem to fit in.
