Invitation Wording. Destination Wedding/At Home Reception

NLeo, on November 17, 2013 at 10:36 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 3

I need some help wording my invites. We are having a destination wedding (mainly close family but we invited everyone and let whoever wants to come on vacation, come). We are having a reception at home a couple weeks after we return. I need help wording both.

I thought we would stick with the traditional wording for the wedding (want to include both our parents names). How did you word yours? Or any ideas more specific to a destination wedding?

What wording would you suggest for the reception at home?

Everyone knew we were getting married in Vegas so I didn't word the reception invitations much differently. we did treat it like two totally separate events though. we just said (our parents names) would like to invite you to the reception celebrating the marriage of (our names) on the (date and the time and location).

just a heads up, we got married in Vegas on October 26 and our reception at home is December 7th. about the time we were receiving the RSVP's for Las Vegas and dealing with the no responses and whatnot, it was time to start sending out invitations to the reception. the thought of going through all of it again was seriously depressing! And now that we're done with the Vegas wedding and our honeymoon, I have no desire to finish planning and organizing and prepping for the local reception...

You could try the more traditional "SoandSo would like the presence of your company of the marriage of...." and then "reception to follow in NY on...." but really, I'd send two separate invites, or do an enclosure about the recption at home, so people don't get confused.

Glenda - thanks for the heads up. I can't imagine dealing with it all twice! we are requesting rsvps for wedding and reception at the same time. And the reception is only 2 weeks after we return.

Zoe-we were planning on doing the reception info on a separate response cards so there shouldn't be confusion. I forgot to mention that but thanks for checking.
