Invitation Worries

CourtneyBrittain, on June 25, 2019 at 5:27 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10
So I sent my invitations out over a week ago; I got mine (yes, I sent one to my fiancé at our new apartment) within two days, as did several friends/family from OOT (think TX-NJ) anyway! One of my bridesmaids, who lives in TX as well but about 7 hours south of me, hasn’t gotten hers yet. I triple checked that I had everyone from my guest list named, addressed properly, and stamped! The RSVP deadline isn’t until July 15 for our August 8 wedding. My main concern is if a batch got lost or something and then people only have 2-3 weeks to figure out if they are going. Should I be worried that not all of my invitations are sent? I sent all 150+ at the same time from the post office.

You could always just follow up with people after a week or two to see if the received theirs

I wondered that, but would that seem like I was pestering them for an RSVP? I definitely don’t want anyone to feel pressure to come to the wedding!

I would probably just wait until the RSVP date and then follow up if you haven't heard. I just assume you sent STD's since most ppl do, so it's likely people already know your date Smiley smile

The post office could've rerouted your bridesmaids'! When I sent out my bridal party proposals, my Matron of Honor got her card a week after everyone else did. We live in Tennessee, and she only lives 2 hours from me (so she should've gotten it 2 days after I sent it). For whatever reason, her card got rerouted to Miami, FL so my bridesmaid that lives in Phoenix, AZ got her card a few days before my Matron of Honor did. I wouldn't be completely stressing out about it yet! Hopefully, she'll get it this week. Smiley smile

I actually didn’t send STDs as our engagement in total will only be 4 months and 1 week long. We didn’t even have a date until we were 92 days out!

So weird! Okay, good to know I’m not the only one haha. I’ll give it a while longer.
If all else fails, we do have 50 extra invitations.

I mail my friends things all the time. We noticed there can be a week difference between mailings. Because you did so many at once the post office might have had a hard time sliding them all through the machine and are doing them in batches?

You could wait a few days and see if your BM gets hers and if not, you could try sending a second one. As far as other people, you could always reach out and just ask if they have received their invitation as you had a couple of people not get them. If they didn't get theirs you can send another and if they did, I don't think they would feel like you were pestering them for their RSVP as you were simply making sure they received it.

I would wait a few more days then reach out to the BM to see if she got hers. I would also pick a few randoms guests to see if they got theirs, that way you may be pleasantly surprised if it seems most got theirs already!

It all has to do with the receiving post office/hub and some are efficient and amazing and some are... shall we say, dumpster fires?

Our invites got to Philly before they got two hours away downstate. It's a mystery!
