Contrary to popular opinion, please stick with the tried and true 6-8 weeks before the wedding. Any earlier and guests will lose and forget the information because it is too early. No one can commit to anything before the standard 4 week rsvp due date, as many employers do not confirm final schedules before then. If they sent after 6 weeks before the wedding, people will assume you are wanting seat fillers and they would rather not be invited at all.



Save the date notices are sent via word of mouth or phone call/text 6-12 months before the wedding as soon as the venue is booked so that guests have a heads up to plan time off, save up money as needed, look into travel options. Postcards and magnets are a new trend but save the dates via regular conversation have existed since the dawn of time and are very effective at zero cost. The guest list needs to be finalized before the venue is booked, because once a save the date is sent, an invitation must follow.
