Invitations, details, and rsvp cards

Heather, on January 10, 2024 at 8:05 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5
I was wondering how many people have included The Details on the back of the formal invitation with rsvp info? I had maybe only 2 couples send their wedding invitations with the back of the card showing the details, including rsvp info and deadline date to respond by.

With how much wedding invitations are. How many people have done this? Would you recommend? Zola is what I prefer to use because it’s free to have the guest addresses printed on the envelopes. But with stamps now being more in cost, invitations costing way more than the save the dates I am starting to think combining everything on one invitation would be best in order to save money. Would this choice be considered of bad etiquette? What are everyone’s thoughts?

I plan on doing online rsvp’s. Which is why I think stating our wedding website for that with a QR code is such a small detail that I feel doesn’t need to be on a separate card as it’s going to cost more when I can provide that on the invitation. I just don’t know if this is ok to do.

On a formal invitation, it’s not okay. On a more informal one, I think it would be fine. So it depends on the style and formality of your wedding.

It's not traditional form but even if you don't care about that my bigger concern would be people not noticing an RSVP request back there because it's not where they expect to see one.

If you do decide to do this, make a note on the front that says "see back for more details" or something similar so that they don't miss it

Never seen any information on the backside of the main invitation in real life. It’s a popular idea online but many people will be more confused if you don’t include a separate details card and rsvp card. If you go somewhere inexpensive such as annsbridalbargains.com, you can get a full set (invitation, details card, reply card and all envelopes standard cheaper than 1 card via Zazzle or Minted that is sold separately from the rest of the invitation set. If these are formal invitations and your formality is semi formal or above, this is a faux pas to have anything on the back or saying to flip the card over.
