Invitations DIY or just Buy

Haley, on August 17, 2017 at 12:54 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 27

Would it be cheaper to make wedding invitations myself or buy them?

What are the nicest, most inexpensive wedding invites you have found online?

Go on vistaprint they have super pretty ones plus you can design your own which is what I did. I'm waiting for the Black Friday sale so that they are 70% off

I, like some of the other ladies, am using VistaPrint. They have tons of options and the pricing is reasonable.

I bought a PDF design from Etsy and uploaded it to Vistaprint. I got a great deal. Their customer service is very helpful too.

I tried print at home invites and they were a disaster. The ink (which I confirmed 100 times was compatible with the cardstock) would rub off the cardstock - even when left to dry overnight, several days, a week! I even tried taking them to Staples, Kinkos, and Office Max but they all turned me away because the cardstock was too small and would jam their commercial printers.

I ended up ordering from Minted.com in a panic. They turned out beautifully and I got many compliments on them but I wish I would have researched vistaprint more because they are significantly cheaper. I am using VP for some other wedding activity invitations and I'm excited to see how they turn out.

Just buy them. I haven't seen a DIY that would actually save that much money but I have seen tons that would just take up a ton of your time.

If you are very crafty and enjoy doing those things, do it yourself. If not, just buy them. I agree with other posters though, Etsy and Vistaprint are great options! (I'm designing my own invites and having them printed at a local printer). Good luck!

It's cheaper and more time effective to just buy them most of the time. Put a value on your time

Check out Ann's Bridal Bargains. They usually have some sort of promotion running.

I bought mine from Minted and once I created a wedding website, I received $50 off my order! Really good quality and beautiful invitations!

I designed mine at home and took them to Staples to be printed and cut. Invitations, envelopes and stamps came to about $80 for 75 invitations.

I did a combo. Bought from Michael's online invitations and tweaked a little to make more high end. Depends what you are going for. Hard to make as nice at home imho.
