Invitations not recieved

Alexandria, on July 1, 2021 at 6:51 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9
Ive invited family/friends from Texas california and arkansas. My texas people havent recieved invites, but california and Arkansas has. What do you do if you've sent invites and people do not recieve them? Not sure how any of this is supposed to go, help! I sent them through USPS, were they supposed to mail a specific way?

When did you mail them? Were all the invitations the same weight and the proper postage applied? They could just be delayed for several reasons.

If anyone has received them, and you mailed all of them the same way, you probably did it correctly. When did you mail your invitations and which state did you mail them from?

I did have this problem as well. Only issue that I stressed over throughout my whole wedding planning. I took the invitation to the post office to get the accurate postage before I mailed them. However, my conversation with the post master (which still doesn’t make sense to me); he said that some offices will let them go as long as the weight is correct, but because of the size of my envelope some consider it a “package” which costs more in postage. It’s a messed up and inconsistent situation; I had people on one side of my town receive them and the other side didn’t; some came back to me for insufficient postage…and like 2 weeks prior to the wedding those that didn’t get them ended up receiving them. It was the worst. Luckily we had a wedding website to where people could RSVP and see all the details; but still it was a stupid situation. Try to contact your post master also to get a better resolution/explanation.

USPS is a mess right now. . .I wouldn't worry too much about it, it will get there. For Mothers Day I mailed a card to my mom, it takes 2 hours to drive to her house. . .the card arrived 5 days after I mailed it. When I mailed the invitation on a Monday, she received it 2 days later, so it seems to be getting better.

I mailed them from Arkansas and had them weighed for correct postage and they made sure they were not handled by the machine because of the wax stamp on the back. All invitations are the same. For some reason all my texas invites have not been delivered. I mailed them on Saturday the 19th of June. Exactly couple weeks ago. Trying not to stress, but my mom seems to be stressed for the both of us lol

No problem. Like PP said, USPS is a mess right now, but its still no excuse for the inconsistency of some offices. We sent to the Carolina's, Florida, Atlanta, Iowa and Nebraska. Out of state had no problems even though they took a little bit of time, but NY was such a hassle with this package versus not package mess. Like if its considered a package that's fine, tell me initially. We were so annoyed...we spent good money on those invitations for them to not be delivered. I hope yours make it to their recipients soon!

Update: our RSVP deadline just passed, so we've been following up with people we didn't receive responses from. Most of them had just not mailed their RSVPs yet (we live in a city, so a lot of our friends don't have convenient outgoing mailboxes), but there were a few who had never received theirs. One was in California, one in New York, one in North Carolina, and one in Massachusetts, so it doesn't seem to be a location-specific problem.
For anyone who didn't get their invitation, I made a PDF version of what they should've received in the mail and emailed it to them and just asked them to tell us what they wanted to eat (they were all people I knew were going to come anyway). If they eventually get the invitation, that's fine, but at least now I know they have all of the information.
