Invitations pricing

Tynasia, on April 19, 2023 at 12:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
How much money is too much to pay for wedding invitations? The specific style that I would like runs about $200 for the number of invitations that I need but I’m just wondering if people would probably throw the invitations away after the wedding and … well I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s money wasted and granted the invitations won’t be used again and it’s out of my hands once I send them out but still. What do you all think?

I think it completely depends upon your preferences, the importance of invitations to you, and your budget. Your invitations convey to your guests the type of wedding you are having, so personally I find them important. We splurged on our invites and spent $400+ on them. And we don’t regret it at all!

See!!!! I literally want them to be so pretty and perfect and I am willing to spend the money on them but I wanted to see if I was being crazy and overthinking or if I’m well right within my thoughts. Thank you!

If it’s in your budget, go for it! After all, the invitation is the first impression of your wedding! We ordered a few extras to ensure we had keepsakes, since we loved them so much. And I plan to frame them with a wedding photo

We went pretty cheap with our invites. Nothing fancy since we knew they’d just get tossed and it still cost us around $160. If it’s something you really want and you can afford it then I’d say do it! Our invitations weren’t something that mattered that much to us but everyone has different priorities

So you see my problem. It’s really a tear between the two. I really want something nice but at the same token it’s like why even bother if they will be tossed. It’s a tough decision because as another person said they are the first impression of the wedding but I’m a DIY kinda girl so at the same time it’s like I know how to make trash look nice

I totally get it. Like there were things we had done for the wedding that aesthetically were nice but ended up being such a waste of money. We just got something simple from Zazzle for our save the dates and invites that gave the overall vibe of our wedding but didn’t break the bank as I knew we’d be the only ones that kept one lol. Invitations pricing 1

But I know someone that spent hundreds of dollars on hers because it was important to her. It’s tough to make these decisions sometimes but it’s definitely just preference. I’m a DIY girl myself so I know what you mean lmao

I definitely didn't care about the splurge, I wanted pocket invitations because our wedding was going to be a destination wedding for so many people. I wanted all the information they could possibly need (hotel, menu, weather, venue description, dress code) right at their fingertips in separate pull-out cards. Even though I have a website basically saying the same stuff, you wouldn't believe how many people didn't look at it! LOL

If you love it, and your crafty, do it. Don't be afraid to claim your joy. This is one of the few things I chose for my wedding (rest was husband). I still love to stare at invitation websites during work breaks, like little works of art and inspiration. More than one gf told me the invites were gorgeous and ultimately it did set the tone as everyone dressed artsy, fun and formal. I paid ~$700 + postage and seals. I later invested in menus with same color motif. No regrets.

This is awesome! I plan to do a website as well, well it’s in the making. But I know some people who don’t know to use the internet to wouldn’t bother if they have everything that they need right in front of them.

Thank you! I really enjoy getting advice from different people. It makes me feel like I’m not alone in my thoughts and just hearing what worked for other people

That completely depends on your budget and your priorities. If you can easily afford it, then I guess the sky is the limit. I don't see invitations, calligraphy etc. as not worth the time, effort, or money because they are just thrown away and I don't agree that no one remembers these kind of details. As PPs say, they can set the tone for an affair. But it's not always about the money. If your budget is tight, it can be an easy place to save. There are very nice invitations available at all price points and some great DIY and affordable printing options.

Invitations were something we knew no one would keep except closest friends and family. As pretty as many are on Pinterest, the only way we could justify the cost of those is to have a minimal guest list. The popular sites were not that economical for what they offer. We could get a full set of invitations at annsbridalbargains.com or a local print shop making a custom design at a lower cost than someplace like Zazzle that didn’t offer font options we liked, nor did they include envelopes or inserts in the price as those are sold separately. Even with Etsy, we would have to print at home, which is not an option and they don’t offer inserts. In our families and social circles, wedding websites are not a thing so detail and rsvp cards are a must. The same applies for double sided invitations which are a faux pas in our social circles. By going with a local independent print shop, we were able to get a design we liked at a cost we were willing to spend and save money over the regular website offerings as well.

I did splurge on my invitations. Even though I did catch on sale, I spent about $460bc of the type of invitations that I wanted. It all depends on what you want for your wedding and budget
