Invitations question

Colleen, on April 22, 2021 at 10:26 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7
Hi everyone, we are having a micro-vow renewal next June after originally planning a large ceremony/ reception after realizing it just wasn’t what we wanted. So we’ve started over... we are now having about 40 people for a small ceremony and fancy( ish) dinner where we had our first date. So my question... I thought it might be nice to Buy or print blank decorated cards and hand write the details on the invitations since there will be such a small number of them and have rsvp cards printed as well. I thought it might seem more personal. But I don’t want it to look cheap, or like we couldn’t afford “proper invitations”. What do you all think? Btw we have a new date: 6/3/22- anyone else have that day?

Traditionally that is how invites used to be but the mindset has switched so that anything handwritten is seen as cheap. What you are planning sounds lovely. If you decide not to handwrite everything, try zazzle.com

I love that idea! I think it is really sweet. I wish I had done that for my wedding.

Unless you have very nice and very clear handwriting , I think printed invitations tend to look better and are easier to read for guests.

Personally, I wouldn't. I think you will get very tired of writing after the first 5 invites. Also, a handwritten invitation will give off a "casual" vibe. If you are having a more formal/fancy wedding, I would skip handwritten invitations.

Thanks! I thought it might be a nice personal touch, but not everyone agrees.

For me, it depends on the handwriting. For example, I wouldn't dare write out invitations (as my handwriting isn't that great), but one of my aunts has the most beautiful calligraphy-like cursive (and it's her everyday handwriting). I'd love to get a handwritten invitation from her, and I would think this event was super fancy just because of how beautiful her handwriting is.
