Invitations; shower and wedding

Q, on April 2, 2021 at 10:23 AM Posted in Planning 0 8
Hi ladies! My invitation for Our wedding came in (finally!) and my mom (who is hosting my bridal shower) ordered invitations as well and they just came in. This may sound silly but—- which goes out first!?!?

Also the post office has been taking a while this year, so trying to consider that as well.
We have a ton of out of town guests so we plan to give 2-3 months for wedding invitations (rsvp by July 9) for early august wedding. Bridal shower (inviting local and immediate family) for late June (rsvp by June 12th).

I would send the bridal shower ones first since that's the event that will be happening first!

Send the bridal shower ones 4-5 weeks before the event and wedding invitations 8-10 weeks before the wedding date.

Yes the post office has been SO slow with the pandemic (currently waiting on two separate priority packages that were supposed to be both delivered 2/25). This made my mom and I concerned about wedding and bridal shower invites as well.

With that being said, I am having two separate bridal showers, one June 12th (RSVP by June 1st to my mom) in my hometown and one August 8th (RSVP by July 16th) where I currently live close to my FH’s family. I just printed both sets of invites this week, and I’m mailing both out on Monday. Yes, the August invites will be out pretty early, but the restaurant needs an early head count and with the way the pandemic has slowed mail, I’m not risking late or non delivered invites. And also, that way everyone has access to our registry at the same time.
When it comes to my wedding invites (mid November date), I’m thinking of also sending them out early, about the 12-week mark. We have A LOT of out of town guests, and I just don’t want to mess with late invites and RSVPS getting lost with the weight of the world currently.
That’s my advice, the earlier the better!

I would personally do wedding first and then bridal shower. Even if it's like a week or 2 difference.

Wedding invitations go out no earlier than 6-8 weeks before the wedding. Otherwise people will lose them and forget. Those are sent before the shower invites because the wedding guest list has to be set in stone.

Guest list has been set since November Smiley smile
Concerned with usps though. We sent Christmas cards in November and some didn’t receive them till end of January. Many of our guests are from out of town, we need to give them as much time to plan and book hotels so that’s why I was asking when I should send them.. and before or after bridal shower...

If you have a withjoy.com or wix.com site set up that you can email/text the link to all, just add hotel block info to that and they can work it out there. Make sure to mention in email/text about the hotel bookings cut off date. Then send invites at the standard time.
